$20 million shy doesn't seem like that much of a made up number, in my humble opinion. I hate NY media as much as the next guy, but I somehow doubt they are exaggerating that much here. If anything, the Devil's sitaution hasn't been covered enough. Maybe I'm not as ear on rail as I should be for updates.

The devils are going to be one of the Teams in the near future that are crutched up by the rest of the league like the Yotes are now.

well lets just say the ny post have "reported" throughout the season that the devils would have to trade parise, the NHL have put a cap on the devils, among other things, and about an hour or so after a story they posted saying the devils are going to have to trade guys away to save $ (forced to trade) the devils did make a trade but yet again it was to add salary

i wont believe anything the ny post says until something does happen

are the devils in some financial difficulty? yup, but i doubt its as bad as what the post is saying

Just so everyone is aware, all of the "sources" are the NY post and their "source" is the minority owner who is in an tooth and nail struggle with JVB right now. Until you hear anything from the Devils or the NHL, take everything with a grain of salt. Worst case scenario the Devils will get a new owner, but they cant leave NJ for 20+ years because of their lease with the Prudential Center and the city of Newark.

At least the flyers were able to salvage the Trenton titans from being flushed down the toilet under the devils guidance.

That way of thinking is why the Yotes are where they are....."everything is fine" then all of the sudden BOOM they are broke.....

Team was fine until the Devils rebranded them. They rebranded them "Devils" in a market typically dominated by Flyers fans, that's where that situation went wrong. No one even cares about the ECHL or AHL besides maybe two or three markets. Anyways, the Devils at that time were the only NHL team to own all of an ECHL franchise, all the other teams were in partnerships.

I don't know what's worse, the prospect of the Devils relocating or the idea of having to see their games in Newark for the next 20 years.

Unless you don't plan for a pre-game stroll through Newark, there's nothing bad about the arena...

nowhere did I say you were in the organization...I simply said your way of thinking is flawed....you are awfully defensive for someone who says they don't believe the chatter about the financial stability of your team.

What does my thinking matter? I am not in the organization. The Devils are handling thing internally and when there is an issue they will let us know. Until then, its mudslinging by a guy who wanted to get a team to Newark, make some money, and get out. Chambers hasnt be able to do that yet and is now just throwing blame at everyone.

which is all coming from the ny post

i have yet to see anyone other than the post come up with their own story about it, everything has been from the ny post either directly or referenced

and everyone knows that they are not exactly too reliable, for (frank)s sake devils fans and beat writers were correcting basic info when stories first came out, youd think that a "investigative" journalist would have that info rather than coming up with an excuse in his next article about it

are devils in some financial trouble? yup, is it as bad as the post is saying? probably not

That would be somewhat of a bittersweet ending if that did happen, not a chance in hell though, because he doesn't shut the (frank) up, but at least you know he cares.

I don't think the $20 million is made up or even an exaggeration.

The likely exaggeration is that JVB will lose control of the team in a week's time. Things like that usually take longer.

MAYBE if he misses the payment they'll begin the process to take control of the team away from him but I doubt it is something that will automatically happen and is likely a process that will drag on, if it even comes to pass.

More likely the lenders will work with him because they have a vested interest to do so unless they have another owner lined up but, even then, I imagine that will take some time.

Same trolls that kept saying Parise was leaving, and Devils fans insisted he loved NJ and the franchise too much to go anywhere...
Now the trolls say the Devils are in some major financial troubles, and Devils fans are saying its not that bad...

Is there a pattern forming?
