Unfortunately, this is exactly who is agent is going to compare him with. This just upped his price into the $4 million+ range. Should've locked him up earlier for cheaper.

They both shoot left.. so yes.. they are comparable. Everything else.. not so much.

Skinner - 0.73 ppg career

that doesn't matter.. their point totals are not all that different and that is all the agent will look at. if you want to sign him for under 4 mil the skinner contract does NOT help your cause.

they are not comparable in terms of player but at the end of the day Ennis' agent will look at the 5.7 per for Skinner and point to it and say if he gets that for 0.73 ppg Ennis should at least get around 5.3.. the simple math works out to be that way.

You can't lock him up if his agent was making them wait. IN order to maximize Ennis's contract, you need to wait for others to sign

His agent knows that from a productivity standpoint Skinner and Ennis are comparable. If Skiner gets 5.75, look for Ennis to get 4.5-5 over 5-6 years.

No one cares. There should only be one blog about Ennis and that should be on the day he is either signed or traded.

fair enough but there are counter-arguments. Skinner is THREE years younger and has a 30-goal and a 20-goal season under his belt by age 20. he also cracked 60 points as an 18-year-old, something Ennis hasn't done and wasn't on pace to do last year. Skinner has one full big-time producing season under his belt, Ennis has none. i think most people would be comfortable with giving Skinner that deal while not many would be comfortable with Ennis receiving a similar deal.

Two different players. No question about it. Numbers are not style, skill or leadership. Both exhibit those 3 elements at high levels, but you can't compare them outside the goals, assists and overall points. At the end of the day, only agents and GMS care about that...agents more. As far as ability---Both have plenty. Skinner will be more important to the Canes in the future. They have a building block in him. But Ennis could be a BIG part of Buffalo right now, with top minutes.

Are you on drugs? One is doing that as a 20 year old, the other is two years older. That's a big difference at this stage of their careers, and Skinner still comes out WELL on top. IN terms of points, and most other things.

An arbitrator would laugh his agent out of the room if he tried to use that as a comparable.
