I think Doan already made up his mind, with his family, in that he'll be signing in Vancouver. The summer isn't over yet and the team can still be improved after he signs here. It's a wait and see game! |

Turning into a Shultz type Drama, what'syour cap space like? Can you handle a contract that large without moving Luongo out if doan is looking at 7+ ? |

Do you honestly think Desbiens was signed to be on the Canucks? Every year Gillis has these signings and every years people make it seem like they're given rosters spots....It's a freaking AHL signing!! Doan is definitely coming!! It adds up. I'm more sure than I was with the mentally fragile Justin Schultz..... |

It won't be 7+ Not a chance in the world he's given more than the Sedins. I see a 6 million cap hit over 3-4 years Doan doesn't strike me as a money first guy. It's about his family and winning. He can make his family happiest by coming home to B.C and it gives him the best chance to win. The Canucks will be a force next season. I can just see Gillis selling Doan. He can mentor Kassian and ride horses on his farm in Langley. While riding around with a cup in his hands. The perfect life. |

Do you have the 6m+ freed up? Is this a leadership thing your looking for or a need in his position?

Ya they have the cap space. They'd just trade Luongo for prospects/picks. If it came down to it they could send Raymond wioth Luongo = $7.5 and even Ballard at $4.2 They could potentially free up 11.7 pretty easily. Doan, IMO, is something we've been missing for the last three years. He'd help this team a ton in both leadership, size and goal scoring. |

I agree. I'm sure Doans agent was just trying to drive the price up with so many suiters. Did he get offered 7.5 per? I believe if he did then that was buffalo. I don't think buffalo gets near the same price as van/Philly/nyr etc because they r a weak team. |

Lots of options. Trade Raymond or Ballard. |

Both and Cancuks can easily make Doan fit under the cap. Boinker is right. It won't be for more than 6.1 mil |

I have no idea what the numbers look like, and I don't believe the numbers being thrown out there. With the 10% rule we have around 9 million in cap space. Gillis and Gilman are very intelligent guys, if they figure they can do it, I'm sure they'll do everything in their power to make it work. As long as the owner is on board, there are many options open to them. |

Oh yeah.....because sending Luongo and Ballard in the same deal will be soooooo easy. I'm sure there are teams all over the league looking to take that dollar figure on. And all of this for prospects/picks. Dreamworld, meet Canuck fans. |

So if he is something you feel you really need to get over the hump is it worth it to you to trade Luongo to florida for whatever you can get or do you think will hold steadfast on the return he is looking for?
If Gillis has been waiting this whole time on Doan to decide on Luongo it could have been the holdup the whole time.

He is a better option than Mason Raymond. |

I'm sure if Ballard was made available for a late draft pick, van could easily move him. Same goes for Raymond. |

Both, IF Doan signs he can play with the twins and probably have a very productive year. That allows Burrows to slide down to the second line where him and Kes have chemistry. Now we have two good top six lines with the second being Booth Kes Bur.
If Kassian can show he's ready to stay in the NHL, that POSSIBLY allows him to play RW on the third line making Hansen and or Raymond available in a trade with Lu. Signing Doan gives Gillis a lot of options, well maybe not a lot but definitely more. |

Doan meeting the #Canucks tonight in VAN is a clear indication how high they are on his list if things don't work out in PHOE.
I would have at least quoted a credible source. |

Ya I can only see teams that wouldn't be able to attract him otherwise. I think it was Buffalo and Montreal offering up the big money. |

Ya how could they justify bringing in doan for 1.4 more that the Sedins. When players like Burrows, Kesler, Hamhuis, Bieksa and obviously the twins taking less. Doan is smart enough to understand that they have a business model. If he wants to come here he'll have to fit in. |

If you want the make believe
Rumour_Express @InsiderLegit
Well there are 3 teams..... 1 that is a big surprise... NYI, NJD, and if the Canucks fail to land Doan and then fail to get a top six (Cont)
Rumour_Express @InsiderLegit
(Cont) Forward via Luongo trade they will try to get Ryan
Because he has Legit in his name, must be true.
He also speculated on this beauty
Rumour_Express @InsiderLegit
If you were Florida would you take this deal? Luongo, Schroeder, Raymond for Bjugstad and Matthias.
