If the Ducks trade Ryan you hope they win the trade. They're weak on the wings, and a bit thin on D, especially mobile D.
To me the Ducks are a team in a similar situation, albeit better one, to Calgary. To they go full rebuild and move one of Perry/Getlaf? What do they do when Koivu and Selanne are gone, do they have prospects coming to fill out a second line? |

This is probably the best thing I have read on here in a long time. Ryan needs to stay a Duck. They will not get anything in return that can match his production. I hope he goes to buffalo, but I just don't see Anaheim getting value

Nobody's gonna get Ryan. They want to much and nobody's gonna give that much. He'll stay a Duck

If they can get Vanek + out of Buffalo then I'd definitely pull the trigger. Vanek has a bigger contract, but I think both players are just as offensively talented. Judging by Ryan's comments earlier in the summer, I think it's clear that he doesn't feel wanted in ANA and wants to be moved. |

Bobby Ryan will start the season as a Duck. They have a very high asking price for him. Rightfully so, he is a perennial 30 goal scorer. This will drag on like Nash-stakes did... The Ducks should be more concerned w/ resigning Perry and Getzlaf at this point. Unless they are trying to ride that one out for the new CBA.
If I were Perry and Getz, however, I'd be trying to get a deal done NOW!!! 13 yr deals at 100 mill seem like they will be a thing of the past in new CBA. |

Could cause some locker room problems if he doesn't even want to be there. I agree though, he should have been an "untouchable" in the first place. I'd deal Getzlaf and Perry if neither want to re-sign. Getzlaf looked very uninterested and slow last year from what I saw. |

If both players are "just as offensively talented", why would it be Vanek +?

Age, Contract, Ryan is also more physical and a power forward type. |

We'll throw in a 6th rounder then.
Don't under value Vanek. Guy is a warrior, plays hurt, takes a beating in front of the net and comes back for more every time. One of the NHL's best at the tip in.
I actually wouldn't want to part with him, and if we had to give a ton more in that trade, I'd say no

It's time for Murray to swallow his pride and mend the fence. If I'm Getzlaf and perry I'm not impressed with how Ryan has been treated. |

Regarding: Vanek, Sekera and Ryan
They are all good players who may need a change of scenery. Could help to change the chemistry for both teams that did not make playoffs last year. |

I agree 100% with this blog, I never understood any of the Ryan trade talk.
It's best for the Ducks just to do their best to mend whatever is broken between the team and Ryan, and make sure he knows he's a part of their future plans as well. |

All the Yandle rumors seem to have died down but some kind of Ryan for Yandle trade seems fair and would address needs for both clubs, both players have similar contacts and terms as well. |

Steve Palumbo: Keeping Bobby Ryan in the Ducks Best Option - Steve Palumbo
I agree on the Ducks can be the Devils of next year, but the one thing the Ducks could use more at this time is forward depth. However, at the same time, the Devils didn't exactly have any forward depth till mid-March.
The Ducks just need to acquire a solid, reliable third liner mid-season and hope the team meshes well at the end of the season, which is key, then they could surprise a lot of people in the West |

Please excuse my fellow Buffalonian. He is obvious not thinking clearly. There is no way in the world that Buffalo makes that trade.
None of these players need a change of scenery. I would argue that Vanek is better than Ryan, and would have a hard time making that trade straight up. The only benefits of that trade are that we get younger and cheaper. IMO Ryan is no Vanek.
This guy wants to give away Sekera who is a legit top four mobile d man. What are you smoking. Can I stop by? |
