i like alot of the leafs prospects, hopefully we dont rush any of them cough *schenn* cough
The one thing i hate about the leafs is they have to true vets to help out the young kids

Im not saying we need to bring in a #1 guy like iginla, but look at the blues when they brought in arnott and langenbrunner

Leafs have a nice pipeline on D. Not sold on Kadri/Colborne, but Reilly/Finn/Blacker, etc is nice.

Is Scrivens still considered a prospect? he is closer to 30 than he is to 20.

Hans't made the NHL yet full-time. That's my cut off. But he's pushing it.

D'Amigo or McKegg would slide in there if he were tossed.

Hey Huds,

Quick question. What do you think the chances of those Rupert Twins making the NHL are. Will they be useful. I'll be honest i don't know alot about them. Cheers

Matt's a reeeeal long shot. He's in and out of London's lineup a lot. Ryan's been used a lot by them on the PK, PP, etc. He's a talented kid (good puck skills), he's short, stocky and one of the meanest dirtiest kids out there. I was singing his praises prior to the draft, so I believe he'll be a useful bottom six agitator one day. Really reminds me of a Brad Marchand type.

Good analysis.

I always scoff at the notion of comparing prospects to guys that have scarcely established themselves in the NHL themselves. We really have no idea what Karlsson will be like over the course of his NHL career. That being said, in this particular instance his game was notable and divisive, so I understand what the comparison means in terms of playing style if not production.

I also agree with the placement of Kadri 2nd. Love him or hate him, he's still an incredibly talented young player.

On the leafs quest for the cup, the league has the potential to be surprised by Colborne's output. And the Leafs will need a good surprise or two.

If you're 5th best prospect figures to be like Dan Girardi, you're in good shape though. At moments, the guy looked like a top 5 defender in the league last year.

I have to say, overall your comparisons and upsides were pretty complimentary. I'm eager to see what you have to say about the other Canadian teams.

Clarification please. You site the NHL comparable for Scrivens as Riemer. Are you being cute, evasive, non-committal, tentative, confused or all of the above?

Haha. They play similar blocking styles with just a hint of athleticism. Obviously there are some differences, but I think it's the closest.

Exactly-- the comparable is more about giving a picture, rather than a number on what to expect in production and what not. I'm not saying Rielly will be a Norris winner in Year 3, heh. ;-)

Heck, most know I wasn't extremely high on Rielly, though most other scouts I've talked to are.

I also agree with the placement of Kadri 2nd. Love him or hate him, he's still an incredibly talented young player.
- Morris

Indeed. With him it's all about whether his body can play consistently. His skill is at an NHL Top Six Level. He just can't do things that he wants to physically.

If you're 5th best prospect figures to be like Dan Girardi, you're in good shape though. At moments, the guy looked like a top 5 defender in the league last year.
- Morris

Yea, Finn's a good one. Though I project Finn to be more of a 2nd pairing type who's dependable, and plays well in all situations, rather than the Girardi we saw dominate this year.

have to say, overall your comparisons and upsides were pretty complimentary. I'm eager to see what you have to say about the other Canadian teams.

I like to try being positive. Too much negative writing out there for my taste. We all love the sport of hockey, why not look at it through a positive lense?

Great blog. The only thing I was confused by was the Tyler Biggs-Mike Knuble comparison. "Big and mean", "big time hitter", "won't back down from a fight", that doesn't sound anything like Knuble to me.
