Henrik and Daniel are equally talented, but in different ways. Henrik has amazing vision, great passer. Daniel is a finisher, great goal scorer.

So, Howson's wait till the price improves strategy didn't work? Once again, the return is determined by the size of the market.

In this case Nash stuck to his guns and made Howson deal with a very limited number of teams, what more could he have done.

Nothing. I'm pretty sure that this is the deal and only deal that was there from the start just like I don't think the deal for Luongo is going to get better by waiting.

I don't pretend to know who Luongo will actually accept a trade to, nor do I know what other GM's have offered Gillis. But I see no urgency from Vancouver's perspective, it's gonna get done by September. I would be happy with a prospect and a 1st round pick to go along with the cap space, but that's just me.

Gillis said yesterday on the 1040 .He sees no urgency in moving Luongo. If the right trade does come along he will make it but he is also ok with starting September with Luongo in a Cauck jersey.

I love Lapierres commitment. I know Cherry hates French Canadian players but I am the opposite. He trained last year in MMA and did more fighting than chirping last year. His commitment to lose the bad rep that the Canucks have is noble. Burrows has the same commitment and watch out for Mallet . I see this being a future hard ass line to play against.

That's all fine and dandy, but I don't see Luongo being ok with it.

Although, cap space will most likely be coming back, your not far off with a 1st and prospect.

I don't think you can compare Daniel and Henrik against each other, they don't play the same position, a better comparison would be Henrik to Giroux or Daniel to Stamkos. Personally I don't think one is better than the other, as since they play together all the time, there's no telling truly how each other would do without the other. Henrik looked good 2 years ago when he won the Art Ross playing without Daniel for 15 games, but looked horrible without him when he went down this year. If either of them played without the other for a full season, then you could compare the two as you'd have a larger sample size to see what they can do.

Here's my Player War:

Crosby vs. Malkin

Crosby:

- Considered to potentially be the best NHL player in his generation.
- Taken 1st overall in 2005 after draft lottery in which every team after the lockout had the opportunity to win.
- Plays a style comparable to his hero, Mario Lemieux (and plays for the same team owned by said Lemieux)
- Won the Art Ross/Hart/Lester B. Pearson Trophy in 2007
- Won the Rocket Richard/Mark Messier Leadership Trophy in 2010
- Regular Season/Playoff Stats:
- Suffered concussion/whiplash injury in 2010/2011 season due to blindside hit by David Steckel in the Winter Classic, made worse by being hit into the board headfirst by Hedman 4 days later.
- Signed contract extension on June 26, 2012 for a front-loaded deal for 12 years @ 104.4 million (caphit 8.7 million)

Evgeni Malkin:

- Taken 2nd overall in 2004 draft (played for Magnitogorsk Metallurg in Russia during lockout season)
- Plays a style that is similar to Zetterburg but is more of a goal scorer/sniper
- Plays 2nd line center on Pittsburg when Crosby is playing
- Would be a front line center on any other team
- Regular Season/Playoff Stats:
- Won the Calder in 2007
- Won the Art Ross in 2009 and 2012
- Won the Hart in 2012
- Won the Conn Smythe in 2009
- Tore ACL/MCL in February of 2011 against the Sabres and did not return for the rest of the season/playoffs.
- Contract Status:
- Has two years remaining for 16.5 million with a caphit of 8.7 (9 million 2012/2013, 7.5 in 2013/2014)

My thoughts:

For one, like the Sedins, this is hard to make a decision on, but as Crosby has been injured for most of the past two seasons, we have a large enough sample size to be able to compare both players to see who is better. Both have won an Art Ross/Hart/Ted Lindsey (Malkin having won the AR twice) and I would say at the very least 1 and 1a in the league for centers with Henrik Sedin come a close second. Crosby is more of a playmaker, although he can and does score plenty of goals and none bigger than the golden goal in Vancouver 2010. Malkin is more of an all-around offensive center who plays more like a sniper. The concussion/whiplash injury that Crosby suffered has put some doubts as to the longevity of his career, however Malkin's knee injury may eventually slow him down faster than Crosby. Looking at it objectively, I have to put Crosby slightly ahead of Malkin, simply because of skill, potential and career stats although I don't feel Malkin is that far behind and depending on further injuries and Sidney's concussion history, may fare better than Crosby ultimately when all is said and done.

Conclusion:

Crosby > Malkin (by a very narrow margin)

Not happening. Vancouver will not get a 1st round pick back from anyone. They will get a prospect and something like a 3rd or 4th and even then they will be forced to take back salary. He will not and can't have Luongo in training camp.
