I think looking at Patrick Kane gives a good outline of the problem. It's a different situation since the Hawks didn't really want him back, but watching him try to find the best fit while also being on a competitive team is not exactly simple to do. The good teams are all mostly near the cap as it is. So he'd likely have to take a lower value contract, and still hope that the team performs well enough to get to the playoffs and ideally contend.
I had no problem with the Hawks letting him go, but I think if it were entirely up to him, he'd still be in Chicago. |

Que that hfc355 tard dropping in to diss Karlsson because he was mentioned...
I appreciate whats said in this blog to be honest. Too many people thinking Sid is leaving, too many people thinking he wants out all of a sudden and too many people buying into the non stop negative hockey media sh!t storm of the past few weeks. "Reporting" that either the author of all this crap heard, or is just thinking, that Sid wants out, or is leaving, is clickbait sh!t that too many are gobbling up making who ever is producing the crap more money in return. Its fake news. |

So if a team came to you and offered a pretty good package (which they would have to) for Sid, would you make the trade and they Pens maybe fast track their rebuilt or is his legacy just more important? |

As much as I would like to see Crosby in a Rangers uniform he is one of those rare athletes who should wear one jersey. Haha trading EK |

I'm fine with however it goes but would prefer he never plays for another team.
As I've stated a few times around here if Sid wants to move on I will totally respect it. I think he's paid his dues to the Pens and then some. I will even cheer for him if in the finals. However, I dont ever see him requesting it for a few reasons and from a business standpoint I don't see the Pens doing it. |

I probably would for Malkin for obviously a lesser package than what Sid would get. I would also try and get Zegras here regardless of the situation. |

Well, that's good but for a lot of the fan base, Sid's legacy is way more important than the team getting better and it is a big reason they are in this poop show now! |

No, Hextall is why we're in this poop show. It's not because Sid is here haha. He's still an animal. Hextard not protecting McCann is #1 on my list of poopty ideas. He made a plethora of bad moves but that to me is the worst. |

My opinion on how Sid should finish out his career is as irrelevant as on what color the cabinets in our basement renovation project should be. Those cabinets are going to be whatever color my wife wants, and Sid is going to do whatever he wants. I am not going to waste time weighing the pros/cons of the options in either of these cases. |

Really, its the last year or two of JR, then Hextall and then first 8 months of Dubas as to why they are where they are right now hahah

hahaha so true. Totally out of our control. I tend not to focus or worry about things I have zero control over.

What is he's on the Flyers?
I would love him on the Flyers for 3 reasons:
1) Because he's an amazing hockey player.
2) To see the Pens' fan base throw a million hissy fits.

They could still be a good team with Sid currently. Better decisions could have been made.

Well, trades are supposed to be easier at the deadline when you are the team with the best available player and have the ability to retain cap space. But yeah, salaries are easier to move in the offseason.
If we do end up with our top 10 pick, I am looking right at Arizona and Seattle. If we are in the top 3 I am definitely keeping it but I expect Celebrini and Lindstrom will both be gone by #3 and even though there are a ton of good D prospects, in the interest of competing in the Crosby era Id rather trade than try to make a D deal.
Would Zona value a top 10 enough to do some kind of package like:
Pens 1st, Rackell & Graves for Keller a 2nd & 3rd?
With Seattle, I wonder if you could get really good value giving them a good excuse to get out of their Shayne Wright connundrum. They have mishandled him badly, and I also dont think he has handled any of it well. He projects like a 2C or 3C to me still.
Pens 1st & Smith for Wright, Tolvanen & their 2nd rounder?
Lastly, I think the BJ's might have a few players that could help us out but one being very high risk.
Pens 1st, Rackell & Graves for Laine, Provorov & Jiricek. Jiricek is going to be a stud, Provorov gives us a proper 2LD while getting us out of Graves and Laine has been an absolute mess but could likely fit in under the radar a bit more where he wouldnt be the biggest star on the team. I still think he has huge upside as he will have had lots of time to recover from his ailments. - MacPatty
This team is well past the point where they should trade a top ten pick to fix their cap situation. |

Wasn't just Karlsson. Dubas locked up Graves, Smith, Eller, Acciari, Jarry. Most of those moves have backfired. Dubas is one of the dumbest minds in the game. Destroyed the Leafs and now the Pens. Love it. |

Maybe some of this is directed at me... I apologize, I don't mean to be negative. I just post the local media stuff since it seems like there's way more people outside the market on this board. Sure, most of it's sh!t, but that's the business of sports media. DK, Athletic, Yohe, Madden, etc.
FWIW.... Rossi said Sid has already confirmed he wants to stay even after the Jake trade. Madden said FSG will to do everything in their power to keep him. Dubas has repeatedly said, he will continue to try to win with this core.

Agreed, but for this, I'd do it immediately, assuming CBJ is that stupid, because I'd do the package suggested for Jiricek alone.

Not that you're not right in the first two sentences, that a lot of his moves for the Pens have backfired. I agree. However, how did he destroy the Leafs exactly? |

The Pens should be on their third year of rebuilding this team. But everyone wanted to "Win one more for the big three" so keep trading draft choices and getting/signing old men. Well, the Piper needs to be paid and it is going to be a while, especially without a first either this year or next! |

With all the flyers fans that tear into Crosby for “whining” to the refs how do they feel about torts whining to the refs? |

Know what I wish the NHL had? The ability to restructure contracts like the NFL. Allow Sid to restructure so he gives some cap flexibility in the coming years or Karlsson. |
