Thanks for the late night posts Carol (although I have no idea what time it is where you're at).

I appreciate your work.

Thank you Carol 24 hr coverage. Yes it is 2.20 AM here but us old people have already almost had a full night sleep. I fell asleep at 8 so right on schedule for my 4 PM dinner and after Twerking with the Seniors.

Trying to get back on a schedule

I really do hope we take a Forward with the 7 th. You are seeing what Bo can do playing with better players and Pettersson would benefit also. A sniper like Wahlstrom would be very exciting . If not then Tkachuck , or trade down for Veleno Kotkaniemi or Noel.

If you do take Dobson you will get a nice safe player that will fit into your roster in a year or two. Not a game changer but a nice safe player.

Hughes is a big question mark, seeing I have never seen him play but from all reports he is suppose to be good??

You and me both, Vantel. My sleep schedule keeps changing daily here in Denmark.

This is an after-breakfast blog today - similar to my usual routine back home for probably the first time: Watch Bo play hockey, process the postgame, then wake up and share my thoughts.

No game for Canada today so I'll aim to chase down some U.S. folks for another story I'm working on as the day wears on.

I missed your comments while you were dealing with your medical issues. Glad you're back and hopefully on the mend. Take care of yourself!

One last thing before going back to bed . Canucks this year have a chance to look real different. I don't think Benning has the stones but lets see.

If Stecher is in your top pair D and Sven is your second line forward then you can pretty well expect the same as the last couple of years.

Would the team be much worse off if they let Stecher Pouliot or Granlund walk? Not sure

Cancks have about 25 mil in cap space next year so do you want to re-up Pouliot or maybe look for an upgrade somewhere.

Do not pay guys like Hutton and Eriksson to float and set bad examples . Jim has a blank canvas right now lets see what he does

Hi Carol, great read! It's 2:15pm here in Muscat but we don't work Friday afternoons (holy day) so I needed something to read.

I mentioned in the last thread I wasn't sure Horvat could become what he's become, because of his skating, when he first arrived. Obviously he's improved that so much he's now what I'd consider a very good center in the league.

I don't think he's as good as Scheifele now, or he ever will be, but he's proven me wrong once already so here's to hoping he does it again.

As for Pettersson, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he stayed in Sweden for one more year but I'd sure like to see him in a Canuck sweater sooner than later. Kids a special talent!

Even if he plays wing in a limited role or a special teams guy he'll help the club.

Funny, the Jets kinda remind me of the Kings in 2012. During the 2011 playoffs the Kings lost to the Sharks in the first round and people were calling for Lombardi's head, the next year they won their first Cup and suddenly Lombardi was the poop.

Much the same as last year people, including me, were questioning Cheveldayoff and his building. Suddenly this year they're the "bees knees" and Chevy's the poop for being so patient and building right

I remember it was last summer and the big debate was Bo's contract. Bo played three years by then and was not so much being insulted,or whether he was a 3C or 1 or two . It was more about how much do you pay him and for how long? It is hard to have an opinion of someone playing sheltered minutes in their first two years. Everyone had it figured between 4.5 to 5.5. No one complained when the contract was announced and everyone relaxed.

You can expect the same to be done this year for Brock as after one year of play I am sure we will see everyone going back and forth with their thoughts on here

If Boeser can repeat what he did this year the Canucks will gladly pay him I'm assuming, he's far and away a better player than Horvat was his first year but he was a year older (19 vs 20).

Personally I think its just nice having a kid worth actually paying large sums of money to!!

I don't know any Jet's fans that wanted Chevy fired last year.

It's always been the plan for the entire organization. Draft and Develop. They were prepared to get high draft picks, lose games and allow the younger players to learn. Chevy has been a 100% BPA in the draft. That's why Maurice got the extension because he had been teaching so much throughout the first years.

It wasn't about Jets fans, it was a general comment about what was being said and printed about Cheveldayoff.

— Kristen Suderman (@KLSuderhand) September 6, 2017"

Print media

" don’t know Kevin Cheveldayoff. I’m sure he’s a very nice guy.

But, I do know it’s time someone started questioning his ability and whether or not he should still be the General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets. Those suggesting Paul Maurice is the problem are misguided. Many of the pro-Cheveldayoff fans (and there are a ton of them) point to his prowess at the draft table. Mark Scheifele, Jacob Trouba, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Josh Morrissey all look like steals relative to where they were picked in the first round. That’s to say nothing about Jack Roslovic and Kyle Connor, who haven’t arrived yet but are 1-2 on the AHL Manitoba Moose in scoring as 19 year-olds. Patrik Laine fell in the lap of the Jets thanks to the lottery, so I am not willing to include him at all in this. So, on the surface, Cheveldayoff is the man when it comes to drafting. A deeper look and one should question whether it’s Cheveldayoff being an all-knowing super power when it comes to evaluating young talent or does he rely on his scouting staff and then make the final decision based on the information presented to him?"

-----------------------------------------------------------

"the Jets sure do love to reward mediocrity"

" What has it been....17 years and counting with 0 playoff wins? And they get extensions???"

-----------------------------------------------------------

Should I continue Manvan?

Oh so you aren't a "fan"?

I'm not sure who Kristen S. is....

You believe everything you read in the media. Haven't you read enough of Botch's stuff over the years to realize the influence it has, even when it's not exactly right.

I'm not sure what is ass-backwards about building a team through the draft.

Continue with what? The BS you read in the media. Go ahead. Like the comment says about pro-Chevy fans. Well Pro-Chevy fans were right and the media was wrong.

Don't worry, I goggled her. She is Former world traveller; aspiring #NHLJets aficionado; lover of red wine and chocolate; fun person.

So you were right some fans did want Chevy and Maurice fired. The worst kind of fan that doesn't exactly have extensive knowledge into the game of hockey.

you're such a (frank)in idiot, I never once said I believe what the media is writing???, I said the Jets remind me of a team and GM people were complaining about before they started to win. Nice try though lol.

Much the same as last year people, including me, were questioning Cheveldayoff and his building.

Or you were just reminded about another team from years past and a bunch of other's were reminded about the same thing?
