This one is interesting because Ovechkin and Backstrom, the two best Capitals, are not ranked all that highly. Goes to show the impact of their depth.
Using other logic, could you not say that the fact Wash has 2 players on this list shows their lack of depth? I counted 5 pens. |

Well no, because you should say "How do they do so well with only two players on this chart?" Well the answer would then be that they have a lot of high performing depth players. |

on the surface level, this is a better metric than strictly looking at the inputs on hero charts. a lot results that intuitively make sense.
i would think that it undervalues defensmen a little.

Who would you rather have? Laine? Or Connor Sheary? According to that chart Sheary is better than Laine, and that's asinine. I can think of a bunch of guys that are way better than Sheary that aren't on that chart. Just staying with the Jets I would take Scheifele, Wheeler and Ehlers over him. Is it possible that he is where he is because he plays on a really good team? And that good players on bad teams are left off? I see there's no OEL either. Or Karlsson for that matter, but the Sens are actually pretty good this year. |

I don't think they should even put defense and forwards on the same list. It doesn't really make sense. |

Well I would say that the exact reason you need numbers like this is because in reality players are better/worse than their reputations.
A guy like Sheary is clearly benefiting from almost always being on the ice with Crosby. Where as Laine is hurt by most of his goals being on the PP and his atrocious play without the puck. Obviously it's also just one guy's method, and while his explanation is really, really good in my opinion, it can't account for everything. I mean, clearly you'd rather have Laine than Sheary and Clearly Wheeler is better than both of them at this point. Context matters, right? Crosby is gonna prop up whoever plays with him - which is partly what makes him so good. |

I just hate using a stat that is much better to evaluate teams(Corsi) to evaluate individuals.
I am surprised secondary assists are on there though. Since his hero charts omit them. Blocked shots was another one that I'm kind of surprised got a place. And how does he come up with the ratios he uses? I'm assuming it's per 60 because Pacioretty has almost twice the goals of Little(28-16) but Pacioretty's goals bar isn't anywhere near twice as long as Little's. And I have my own issues with per 60 stats.
I guess my gripe is the usual one I have and that's that this is just the broadest way of saying "hey these guys are good" with zero context or depth.
I think the only guy on there that is any kind of surprise that's not on there because of guys he plays with is Bryan Little. |

Since when does 8 out of 26 count as most? Also only 12 of his 47 points have been scored on the PP as well. |
