I watched the Nyquist high stick several times in slow motion. His post-game comments won't hold. He was looking right at Spurgeon, and nothing kept his stick from "getting caught" except for Spurgeon's face.

This is a very dangerous play, and he'll most likely get suspended. The good thing he has going is that he's pretty much a clean player who's never been suspended. Due to the fact that he's a clean player, I think he gets 6-10 games, instead of much more.

I'm a Nyqvist fan, but there is no place in hockey for that. I'd suspend him for a year. But, based on the Keith and Letang high sticks, 5-10 games.

Nyquist is the last player I'd expect to do that. But he should be suspended. I have no idea how many games he'll get. The NHL dart board justice is too unpredictable. I'm not buying his innocent act either. He looked directly at the Wild player and retaliated after he was cross checked himself. Like all the Red Wings players, Gus is likely frustrated with how the season has gone and acted out. I'd give him 5 games. Players make mistakes and lose their cool. It's an emotional game. I just wish he had admitted his mistake and owned up to it rather than lying about not meaning to do it.

Thanks. It's tough watching this team right now. But we're quite spoiled having watched 4 Cup winning teams and 6 SCF appearances plus 25 consecutive seasons in the playoffs. All good things come to an end. I just wish an actual rebuild would take place. But as long as Holland is there, that will not happen. I'm hoping they start selling players now. Just 2 weeks before the trade deadline. I wish the Wings had the defense prospects the Flyers have.

Well i havent been here in a while but i wanted to chime in on Nyquist

I honestly gotta agree with what the other guys have already said, Nyquist is the last guy i would expect this from, but clear as day he needs to be suspended, i would say first time offender 3-5 games, more than 5 to me seems a bit excessive but i wouldnt be appalled if he got 5-10

Personally, i disagree, sure half the teams get in, but making into the playoffs isnt easy, the league isnt filled with trash, so not only making it but 25 years in a row, simply aint easy, so i commend the franchise, and as a fan im very lucky to have been witness to so much success

Im not as happy its ending as much as a lot of other people are, we arent gonna get a mcdavid or ekblad, this draft is weak compared to the last bunch, but everything good ends, and to be honest it ended a while ago, being 1st round bounced super easily sucks almost as bad as not making it.
