Guys... I think you pay Schultz...

I'm officially on board to solve our 2RD problem with Justin Schultz. Unless we trade for someone, we're not gonna do better, and a trade for a top 4 RD is gonna cost an arm and a leg.

Im tired of this team constantly getting injured!
Meanwhile the Capitals have the fewest man-games lost to injury and illness in the NHL. Its about time they got their share of injuries....Hopefully in April and May....

Colorado was extremely dirty last night.
Rust, Sheary, Hagelin out... Thats a lot of speed. The missing players will be very evident in the coming games... Hopefully they all get back and the time off will help them recharge from what had been a really long year with a short summer!

the question is.. how much? I'd like to resign him but I wouldn't want to overpay for him based on one good season.

Was this game dull or exciting? Without the graph, I can't tell how I felt about the game.

As for Schultz, I'd resign him. I think he really wants to stay in Pittsburgh, and while he won't sign for pennies on the dollar, he'd likely take less than market price to stay there.

As was Boston, as was St. Louis (twice), as was Columbus, Calgary. . . .

All of them injured on unpenalized, unreviewed, unsuspended (and unretaliated -- we don't want to get "away from our game", you know) cheap shots.

Why wouldn't every upcoming Penguin opponent keep playing that way seeing as how it's an absolutely zero-risk strategy?

Please explain how they were "Extremely dirty". They played physical but weren't dirty. What the Zads hit? Its no different than cole (I think) who put his knee out on that hit with Duchene...stuff happens.

Pens are 7-2-1 in their last 10, why would the Penguins change their game to retaliate when retaliating does nothing and doesn't keep other players from being douche bags?

Yeh I didn't think it was bad, just looked like sloppy hockey to me, from both teams.

I saw a lot of twitter tough guys last night saying that Zads is a "wussy" "dirty" and would "kick his ass bc hes trash". Guys a monster and people are starting to notice him and get that hate going

I dont think it was a dirty game at all, I thought the refs did a poor job officiating it, a lot of weak calls on both sides (still think that zads holding call was weak on sid that lead to the 2nd goal...if you are going to call it like that then call it all game, they let worse cases of that go uncalled later on)

I guess you're right. They can settle for just continuing to get injured.

Actually retaliation in some form, though certain to be penalized while the original cheap shots are not, just might serve as a deterrent. Plus there's something to be said for sticking up for a teammate, though the Pens really don't have anyone who's very good at it (Scott Wilson being a good example of someone willing but ineffective).

Ask Max "Shhhhhh!" Talbot if sticking up for yourself or a teammate, even if not done very artistically, is as pointless as you think it is.

Right, cause having Sestito in the lineup deterred any dirty poop earlier this season.

While an enforcer doesn't deter dirty play, he can simply ensure agreed mutual destruction. Enforcers don't have magical abilities to put bubbles around teammates, but they can do an eye-for-an-eye approach.

Not advocating either way, just saying.

The NHL permits each team to carry up to 23 players on its active roster, subject to the constraints of the salary cap. However, it also requires a minimum of 2 goaltenders, 6 defenceman and 12 forwards on its active roster at all times. A player is not considered on the active roster if they have been placed on the Injured Reserve List or are suspended by the NHL.

If the team falls below any of these minimum categories, they are permitted to recall a player without subjection to waivers in order to meet the NHL minimum roster requirements. However, the player must be returned to the affiliate when the player he is replacing returns from their inactive status.

Just don't call anyone up, and you can emergency recall him.

*** Scans posting to see where Sestito was mentioned...... not found.

Good answer. Of course Sestito wouldn't help because the refs would escort him to the penalty box immediately as he stepped on the ice (though our captain has said more than once that he likes having Sestito in the lineup. I wonder why?).

Remember the season-ending game in Philly last year when Schenn kneeed Murray in the head and concussed him.... and the ref immediately went over to the PENGUIN bench and warned Sullivan & Sestito (!).

No, it's not up to a guy who isn't even on the roster. It's up to the players on the ice, the ones who actually take a regular shift, to get the job done. Pussy hockey isn't winning hockey in the long run when players get long-term injuries at the rate of one per game.
