A class act. We all love to hate on Sid, yet he remains the top player in the NHL. I think we're all going to see Sidney have an amazing season this year. I expect 90 points. He could still break 100, yet his dedication to the defensive game likely limits it.
Anyone who watched the playoffs saw his impact and role as a player/coach. What a generation to be blessed to watch hockey in. Hes no Turris though..... |

According to the hack that writes for the Blackhawks, JJ thinks that Crosby needs more "Skins on the Wall" to be considered better than Toews...

JJ also said that Crosby was the best "offensive" forward in the league. His part of the hot stove was a Tanneresque hack job. Whoever watches Crosby and doesn't think he's good at defense is just dead set on perpetuating a preconceived notion. And yeah the bit about skins on the wall was outrageous. Crosby literally has nothing left to win besides the Selke, which he'd be a worthy nomination for but only people have the label of two-way forward have a shot of getting whether they actually are the best two-way forwards in the league or not, and the Lady Bing which is just hilariously worthless. I guess we should dock Crosby points for never winning the Norris or the Veznia too. |

I'm not sure I agree that the team would have not existed had they not won the lottery and drafted Crosby in the 2005 draft. They had already drafted Malkin at #2 in 2004 and not already having Crosby & Malkin may have seen them go a different direction in 2006 by drafting Toews/Backstrom instead of Staal at #2. The team would have looked completely different and may or may not have had the same level of success without the best player in the world but having a core built around Malkin, Bobby Ryan(#2 in 2005) and Toews/Backstrom would have been a strong enough and marketable enough core to keep the team in Pittsburgh.
Sid has been and still is the best player in the league but the Pens franchise survives IN Pittsburgh without him. |

I've always followed & really liked Sid. Great to watch and he's such a class act, receiving the most attention in the league. I don't understand any fans who don't like him, except of course fans of Philly. Loved watching him on Canadian Teams especially. |

Also, Five 100+ point seasons to go along with 66 points in the 41 game concussion shorten season and 56 in the lock-out year in only 36 games.
But heck, I'm sure Toews will someday score 80 points in season, just once, maybe!
Never have I seen a more overrated or maybe, to be accurate, an over credited player than Toews in any sport.
He piggybacks off the great talent Chicago has had but somehow he is the reason they win. Crazy!
Oh, Crosby has also won The Jonathan Toews, I mean sorry, very sorry, The Mark Messier Award as best leader in the league too |

EDIT: Crosby only had 7 ESPY's...

You know who else we got in that draft.
Kris Letang. I could make an argument that we may have won this last cup without Crosby but no way we win it without Letang. |

Jaydogg I remember the Penguins being very high on Benoit Pouliot as well had we not drafted Crosby. I thought I heard Mario saying it somewhere. Also Benoit Pouliot (who went 4th) cheered for the Penguins. Anyway just commenting on your draft prognosis.
The Toews and Backstrom thing You are perfectly right. Staal wouldn't be a Penguin. Probably Backstrom IMO. He was more talented offensively and more ready than Toews. |

Well dived is not a word, not in the English language anyways. If you change it to dove you got it just right. |

Honestly there is no way we win without either of them. Having 2 centres and decent wingers to play with allowed the HBK line to wreak havoc. Probably wouldn't have won with MAF playing most of the games either. It was a perfect storm of circumstances. It is every year, that's what makes it so hard to win and even harder to repeat. |
