Really hoping the Huskies can make it to the memorial cup. Only one more round to go now. |

Honest question. Were issues between Bobby Ryan and Boudreau part of the reason Ryan was moved? Would that be a factor in him wanting to coach the Sens? |
|
|
|
I wouldn't be waiting. I'd be hiring if he wants to come here.
Dreger said he believe Travis Green will get a vacant coaching job...
I have a hard time believing Ana or Ott would want a rookie head coach.
Calgary I suppose might, maybe they want someone more in touch with the players.
As for Hartley, I wouldn't touch him.

It wasn't Boudreau. It was Carlyle. |

i think moving Ryan was largely a financial decision by the ducks....they had just signed perry and getzlaf to massive deals, they knew Ryan would be commanding somewhere in the 7 mil range, and decided to move him instead of having nearly 1/3 of their cap tied up in 3 players. |
|
|
|
This, Murray was hoping to get him signed for $6mil (or less) and bobby told him he thought he was worth more. BTW, Ryan is the type of player who would excel playing for Boudreau, not to mention Karlson. Holy crap he'd be even scarier. |

i think Boudreau would be the ideal coach for this team. i think he would bring a structure in their defensive game that has been severely lacking, while at the same time not choking out their offensive ability. he also has experience, and winning experience, which i think this team desperately needs.
i think if you add Boudreau, re-sign Hoffman, have a heatly turris and macarthur, and add a solid veteran to your bottom pairing, and ottawa is back in the playoffs next year.

I would stay FAR AWAY from Bruce, not because he is 0-4 in the last 4 years in Game 7's. That could happen to even the best coaches based on hot goalie, puck luck etc.
What scares me about him is that in all 4 of those 7 game series his team was the team up 3 games to 2. So not only has he lost all the game 7's...he has also lost all 4 of those Game 6's. That to me is a coaching issue and it is buyer beware on Bruce!
Avoid the re-treads and hire a young up and coming coach from the minors. It's working very well for likes of the Flyers and Devils (although the Devs record wasn't great this year, it did exceed expectations). |

In playoffs, although coaching matters, the players know what they have to do. If they don't execute or a goalie comes up lame, the coach can't do too much about it. The coach executes a gameplan and the players have to respond. I would say Bruce has been very unlucky in his playoff career. |

Ottawa's last 4 or maybe 5 coaches have all been NHL rookies.....either up and coming assistants or junior guys.........Maclean was the only one who lasted 2 years.

Hello, Hockeybuzz members! I've been reading the blogs and threads on this site for 3-4 years now. I thought I'd finally make an account and join the conversation.
Did anyone else watch the Coach's Corner where Grapes said Boudreau will be in Ottawa? And then he even said, "He's gonna be great in Ottawa!" Does he know something we don't?
Cherry is rarely ever wrong... However, he also said Babcock would never go to Toronto, stating Babcock was used to being a winner and wouldn't go to a team in the earlier stages of a rebuild.
I'm not gonna get into the whole game 7's thing regarding Bruce. You can't argue his record (and the stats shown in the Yost article someone posted on here). If I was Dorion (with Uncle Eug's permission), I'd be calling Mr. Boudreau and only asking, "How much money would you like?" |

Cherry and Boudreau are really good friends and Boudreau has an Ottawa connection with his daughter living here and she was tweeting he should come to Ottawa. A close friend and famy member mention you to Ottawa, I think it's a done deal.
Boudreau is in a perfect spot, new GM with a want to keep a coach long term, under performing club with top end talent, solid D-group and veteran goaltending. Can bring in his entire staff, and a Canadian market that gets solid reviews from players.
Looks pretty perfect fit for Bruce, I think he'll take a small vacation to relax and they'll announce his hiring in a couple of weeks

Yeah, I heard about his daughter, and there was also another family member living in Ottawa. A cousin, or niece, or something. I forget. Time will tell. But I've got a good feeling. |

No worry here. The Sens won't even make a " game seven " , or " game six " for that matter. He's a coach who was making 1.5 million a year. Eugene ain't paying that. |

Wow, a very respectful post with facts to back it up. Typical Maple Laugh fan! |

I've said it before, I feel Boudreaux is overrated. He won't have the same weapons to deploy here in Ottawa as he had in Washington and Anaheim, unless some moves are made. Good coach, but I think his reputation is a bit inflated.
I don't think Hartley would be a terrible choice, but wouldn't be my first one either. For me, I go with Marc Crawford.
Stay away from rookie head coaches. |

Man you're bad at this trolling thing. Your attempts, instead of annoying sens fans, just make us feel bad for you. |

If my favorite team finished dead last in the league this year the LAST thing I'd be doing is trolling onto other teams blogs and chirping other teams. Growing up in the 70's and 80's I cheered for the blue team, but around the millineum their team and fans were so pathetic and embarrassing (like you) I had to find anther team. Christ! You haven't made a final in 49 years nor won a playoff series in 12. Please back to your parents basement and shut the F up. |

I agree.
I think they'll settle for a poster or cardboard cut out of him. Should fit their budget. Maybe see if they can get some Gilbert Godfrey clips from old movies to do a voice over. |
