From ek's blog. Not sure what he's watching:

Older players with big contracts and plenty to prove, who are still fighting

Vinny Lacavalier
VLC has looked absolutely great in camp and the preseason. He is the perfect example of professionalism and he spent this summer working harder than he ever has before…But that wasn’t all that was wrong with Vinny’s game last year. Much more had to do with the fact that finely tuned skilled players NEED to play with skilled players and Craig Berube placed Vinny on the fourth line last year…when he played him at all. This camp he has been often paired with Sam Gagner and the combo has been thrilling to watch to say the least.

What has he been watching, you ask? Based on that horrendously bad assessment of Gagner and Vinny...probably a marathon of Green Acres because no one who has seen those two play could give a glowing review. They both have looked pretty damn bad.

"Thrilling to watch". He actually wrote that regarding gagner and vinny. I can't comprehend this analysis.

Sounds like Couturier might miss the rest of the preseason but there's still 11 days left till opening night.

Let him get 100%, no need to rush him back for a pre-season game.

Totally agree! Sit him out!
He has a week & 1/2 to heal up.

Its thrilling like a bad horror movie.

One guy past his expiration date and a younger guy who was ruined playing for bad teams coming out of junior.

This injury is just the shot Vinny "Oldblood" Lecavalier needed.

Perhaps Vinny might have to fill in for Coots as shutdown center. Which team gets shutdown could change...but we'd have a shutdown center.

Vinny is slow at this point in his career, doubt he can shut down much outside his own game at this point

Pretty sure he couldn't keep up with half the winter classic alumni squad.

Would anybody notice if we dressed Phil Lecavalier as #40?

So... the top 12 only flip Laughton with coots. Can we say it's the closest thing to the opening day lineup we've seen ? Gagner as the odd man out

He might hold is own in that one, but today's game has flown past him.

It's painful to watch any player in any sport hang on for too long thinking they can still hold their own.
