In a world where all I hear about is sam Bradford knee it's nice to at least have prospect updates to look forward to.
Where does vorobyov (think I botched that) fit into the Russian lineup ? I know he was a pick that could yield high reward with little risk. |

If an NHL expansion occurred right now, who would you keep?
In 2000 the rules were every NHL team was allowed to protect one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. |

Assuming prospects and pro rookies will be exempt:
G-Mason
D-Del Zotto
D- Gostisbehere
D- Hagg
D- Streit
D- Medvedev (if he's exempt, then Gudas)
F-Giroux
F-Voracek
F-Couturier
F-Simmonds
F-B. Schenn
F-Laughton
F-Raffl
F-Cousins
F-Read
Also, if any team were to select Vinny, Umberger or AMac, that GM gets a case of 18 year old Macallan...just sayin...... |

How does Vinny's NMC play into that scenario? Are the Flyers forced to protect him because of that NMC or do they have to get him to agree to waive it in order to leave him unprotected? |

Beats me, I'm just hoping they slip some heroin into his luggage next time the team goes through customs |

You buy the possibility of it, or that there is rumors to such? It's August, I seriously doubt that any rumors discussing the teams plans for the TDL, which is 7 months away, are legitimate.

Possibility. But I do think both will definitely happen. Schenn, a free agent next off season, should fetch something. Obviously Streit doesn't fit into the Flyers' long term plans, so shop him to a contending team similar to the Timonen deal. |

What if the Flyers are in a playoff spot at the deadline, still think both will definitely happen?

Schenn yes. Streit you can make an argument both ways.
Streit is one of your better defensemen so he's critical for a playoff push. However if you're under the mindset that just getting to the playoffs isn't enough and you are trying to build to be a threat in the no too distant future, Streit could still be dealt for someone/something to help with that. |

Yea, Hextall could say the hell with it, and make the deals anyway, but how is that guaranteed to happen? How would the rest of the players feel about that? Players only have so many years to play, they want their shot when they get one. |

If you can get something for Schenn, wouldn't you rather than let him walk next year for nothing?
Streit has some value I'm sure to some team who use a vet to make a run at the Cup.
I don't think Hextall would trade them just for the sake of doing so. It would all be for the betterment of the team.
I'm also sure the guys in the locker room respect and get along with both Schenn and Streit. But they also realize this is a business too. Hextall wouldn't make a trade unless he felt it was making this team better.
And you're right ,there are no guarantees, but I gotta figure both these guys, especially Schenn, won't be on the roster in 2016-17. |

I think this misses the point. The premise I offered was if the team is in a playoff spot, is a trade of Schenn and Streit still definitely going to happen? Of course any trade is for the betterment of the team, but it certainly wouldn't be for the betterment of the team for that current season, while the team is in a playoff spot.
