The Coyotes, the Preds and the Stars get away with some of the most clutch and grab obstruction hockey I've ever seen. I don't get it. Its honestly like those 2 teams are called by a different rule book so as not to butt bang their systems play.

Too much negativity in oil country even when they win. You'd think it's bad playing under the pressure in TO or VAN yet oiler fans are complaining about their players after they won a game in which they let in 1 friggin goal!!!
How about some reasonable optimism and some consistency Rich. First it's "we're playing SJ, we're gonna get whooped, we suck" and then it's "we're now better than VAN and we can win the division". Minnesota and Vancouver'll both place ahead of EDM.

I completely agree with the tittle of this blog. The entire game I was only half watching because when I tried to give it my undivided attention I almost nodded off. I kept exclaiming "Boring!" Every few minutes.

Thats never really worked that well before. Didn't work for the Habs the first like 4 years after the lockout. Hasn't exactly worked for Buffalo. Florida managed to squeak by last year with it. Its done butts in Toronto.

There needs to be some semblance of size on every line. Not exactly a murderer on skates but atleast someone who can lean on the opposing defence. Oilers don't have much of that.

Couldn't really say. I watched about half the first, woke up a bit into the second, changed the channel to Arrow and then managed to catch the OT winner because I wanted to watch highlights.

Yak wraped his arms around Whitney so he couldn't defend himself on the second shot.

Coyotes and Stars are two teams I cannot stand to watch..

Tonights game was the most boring the coyotes could have made an oilers game. Absolutely brutal to watch. If refs called more obstruction by the book it would open up the play so much more and result in a lot morr goals. (Isn't that what the league wants) ?

I felt the top line didn't have it (again, what is going on?) but the other 3 lines were very good. Whits was good, his best game this year, the other defense was average. I do wish some of our forwards would learn to play defense in their own zone though.

As to the lines, I would say a minor shakeup is needed. Hemsky was great, but he's such a puck hog, and doesn't seem to mesh well with Yak. (There was that one time in the third that Yak actually got the puck in his own zone, and turned on the jets)

I think it would be a good idea to move swap yak and Hall, as Yak and Hemmer are pretty similar players, and are good at carrying it up the ice, which the first line needed tonight. Hall adds some grit to Gags and Hemsky, Yak adds pure one time sniper ability for RNH to pass to.

I thought Yak showed improvement this game, he was the only one of the top 6 to have the brain power to dump the puck in to beat the yokes trap, and he is using his speed better for forechecking.

Duby was great again. It was a tough frustrating game, I think Phoenix has to be the most boring team to watch now, I think they got the breakaways only because they put the opposing team to sleep. (Not hard with the Oilers)

After 6 games though, pretty apparent that the Oilers is a better team this year than last season. Still don't think they will make the playoffs, but they should be "in the conversation" for nearly all the season.

Poor Horcs. I thought it looked just a little cheap as well, but no where as bad as others. I doubt the League will look at it, even though it was a head shot.

Petrell stays in EDM next season, obviously Hordichuk out. If Horcoff is out, it can give EDM an preview of what it would be like without #10 if they are serious buying him out.

that's cute. It seems EDM's only heart. Heart and skill. Not really like our 2-4 division-mates. They have some size I guess. I compare you to last year's hurricanes. A little young skill but not going anywhere. Flattering that you think EDM'll make the playoffs. Although I can say with complete certainty that COL will not make it this year or next. Never should have traded Shattenkirk or Stewart as they can't score and their D is sh1t.
