Draisatl entering his prime for an aging Karlsson on a max contract.
Seems about right for Edmonton based on their history. |

Oilers are going to fix their lack of depth up front by trading their second best forward? Interesting way of fixing that issue.... |

No way Draisaitl gets traded. Not even a subject of discussion. If he was a winger then you might have something, but GM's will rarely trade a centre if they can avoid it. |

I imagine Karlsson will have some say as to where he goes if its a "sign and trade".
No slight on the Oilers (or the Canadiens)... and, IMO, McDavid is the best hockey player in the world. But I don't think they have the pieces yet to compete... even with Karlsson. I imagine Karlsson knows this.
If this "sign and trade" deal comes to fruition, he's going to what to go to where there's more pieces in place to compete for the Cup. |

If the Oilers were to offer up Draisatl in a package for Eric K whoever did the deal should be banned for life from the NHL for stupidity.
The Oilers would become a one trick pony up front-stop McDavid and you win. Even a chimpanzee can develop a game plan for that, as good as McDavid is.
Plus the guy (Karlsson) only has 3-4 good years before he starts the decline if he hasn't already.
Taking on an 8 year contract would be a huge mistake and with McD's contract put the Oilers in cap hell if it's in the $10M + range |

1. Karlsson wants to win = not going to happen on a team that lets Draisaitl go...
2. IF Oilers keep Draisaitl and still get Karlsson, they'll have 30M + in cap space for 3 players alone... that and an empty roster.
3. The Sens are a budget team. As good as Draisaitl is, why would they trade for a player on a 8.5M salary cap? I am guessing they'll want more smaller (cheaper) pieces to rebuild.

The "Art of the deal" starring Peter Chiarelli...
Oilers trade McDavid, Draisaitl, Nurse and a #1 pick to the Sens for Karlsson, Stone, Hoffman, #1 pick.
Karlsson walks away as a UFA next summer. Stone and Hoffman do as well when their deals are up.
Chiarelli trades his #1 pick to the Isles for Calvin De Haan. Isles win draft lottery and select Rasmus Dahlin.

There is literally no chance what so ever that Edmonton would trade Draisaitl for an older and declining Karlson. That is ridiculous. |

Will this happen before or after the Tavares sign and trade Ek?
Please tell it’s so exciting! |
