Nice write up. Congrats to USA for the win, but good to see no excuses for the dirty play

(Sadly I saw waaaaay too many comments on social media last night along the lines of "Well, that's how you win games" and "They're only doing what it takes" )

I agree the Weber hit was dirty, but Oshie didn't 'go high' on LC. Couture was bent over, his head being at chest level before contact was even made. The better argument would be that Oshie should have pulled up and not followed through with the hit because Couture was in a bad position.

Agree. I have been surprised by the tempo of the games so far. NA has speed and USA are definitely finishing their checks.

Would you prefer the wording "headshot"?
Is that more appropriate?

He shouldn't of hit him at all, however he didn't target the head. Couture was just in a vulnerable position which made it worse. Had he been upright it would have been shoulder on shoulder contact.

Anyone notice there's a lot of new gear that was being used this game? Saw a few unreleased skates and sticks being used that I couldn't find any info on.

I missed most of the game, but I'm not sure Price will remain the top goalie. He just missed too much time.

ironic that weber was picked over letang and subban because of his physical play. skill and speed is more entertaining. USA team picking some of the players they did is a shame and it apparently showed with some dirty play. in a tourney that has no relevance to the season players should be put in minimal risk for injury.

In a short tournament like this, it doesn't matter if you drive a Ferrari or a 'beaten up' pickup truck, it only matters that you get there.

I think a Canadian player said they tried to be too fancy. That's great, so is winning the advanced stat battle, but when you don't win - well, you don't (frank)in win! Pretty simple.

Not sure how this will play out but how many saw the US of A having any chance in any game V Canada? Babcock has to be able to adapt, because you can bet the games will get physical from now on in against most teams, & why can't goalies jag a high save % if they're in the zone? Going to get interesting if someone else beats Canada................

Canada players were probably playing hungry, anyone see who the assistant coaches are??

I'm hoping that Finland can cause a few upsets. Go boys go!!

Price will be fine. He's just shaking off the cobwebs. Full marks to the US last night. Canada should be better tonight. I'm just happy hockey is back.

I thought the ice was pretty bad last night. Plus the rust on a few of these guys made for some seriously sloppy passing. Seguin was completely invisible which has never been the case anytime I've watched Dallas play. Third goal was horrible for price.

I didn't mind Webers play. But Pietrangelo was bad. He was a giveaway machine all night. Give me Tanger or PK any day.

They're going to be a pretty strong team in the coming years, & everyone loves an underdog!

Hit on Weber was definitely dirty. Was warranted that Kesler got the gate. But It was a bit Ironic being Weber given some of his actions on the ice. As for the of the rest of the game it was chippy for both sides. Lots of scrums, but that's the way the people in charge want team USA to play.

Thank Harambe that G and Weber are okay

Hit on Couture was not high, clean hit. Game is getting too soft.

Ya, we need more concussions and head shots.

Oshie is developing a reputation as cheap shot guy. Likes to hit guys in vulnerable positions / to injure them.
