I don't understand the Yotes still employing 6/7 from last year but they picked up 2 new D....wouldn't that make it 5/7 or am I reading it wrong? - Garnie
This picked up Schenn, Goligoski and McBain.
But they still have OEL, Murphy, Stone, Michalek, Dahlbeck, and Connauton. The only guy gone from last year is Grossmann. |

Odd, I figured (through repeated statements) that Vancouver had the worst D in the league?
I suppose that means Edler is a better no.1 then OEL |

I thought Batman v Superman was great until the awful ending. Did they really need to spend all that time trying to convince us he's actually dead, give him multiple funerals, only to have the final shot of the movie be "Nah, just jokes." |

I think the Yotes defence is still the worst in the league, in fact, the Canucks improved enough in that area that they'll now finish ahead of Arizona, but still miss the playoffs.
Leafs finish last again, but don't win the lottery. |

How have they improved? Less injuries is an acceptable response. |

It's a toss up. I actually think Van is worse because OEL is superior to Tanev. |

Last year the tender was brutal
Jvr and Nylander should be better
Matthews
Marner possibly
It shouldn't take much to get us to 10-11th IMO |

I think it's more about what really happened (in the universe) than the audience.
That is to say that while I somewhat agree with you, as noted in the article, I forgive this because it's what the story called for rather than a cheap ploy to trick the audience. |

Half the D COULD be different, sure. Add in Deangleo and Chychrun and you have 11 guys competing for seven jobs. |

Leafs aren't missing the Playoffs. They got a goaltender now, they have the best coach in hockey by a mile, they have 3 x #1 centres (assuming Bozak is gone and Nylander plays the position it would be dumb not to have him play) and they are stacked on wing.
Their D could use an upgrade but it's above average as most teams don't have a Gardiner. |

Edler is better than Tanev, together they form a good first pair on a building team. Edler doesn't get the credit he deserves because he's relied upon to play way too many minutes for him, he matches up against all the other team's best players, he mans the first unit PP, he does it all.
Is he great, no, is he good, yes! With Benning slowly improving the defense Edler won't have to play as many minutes this year, which should result in less mental fatigue and subsequent errors on his part. |

Holy crap, you're right for once.
The Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition is an A+ movie. The Theatrical Version lacked story and the 25 mins of material removed, that wasn't action-related, was important to understanding the conflict, plot development, and character manipulation. Shame on WB.
I love Marvel, too, but Civil War was almost literally a chick breakup flick. |

We'll see, I think it's going to be tough but I hope you're right...a lot of young guys usually translates into a tough year...seems teams like they either start hot and then cool off or go on a late run and miss.
Nylander's not ready for full time C IMO and will be used as a winger most of the year or until Bozak is traded
Gardiner is not a difference maker - not saying he's not good but he's not a #1 guy that you build around. Hoping Rielly takes the next step this year as Gardiner will still be on the 2nd pairing. |

Leafs finished 30 points out of a playoff spot, 30, the team's directly in front of them (Columbus, Buffalo, Montreal, New Jersey, Ottawa, Carolina & Boston) should all be better. You've got a tough hill to climb! |

I agree completely. Batman V Superman was so much better than the glossy, predictable Civil War that it wasn't even close. |

For sure, but they played some real good games and lost...hoping they turn some of those around with a little more experience - a little more skill and better goaltending. |
