Go Sharks! - SRam19
I'd honestly love to see Thornton finally win a Cup. Guy deserves it. |

Jumbo Joe has been absolutely tremendous to watch this post-season considering his age. Lets go Sharks. In that triple OT game, he barely slowed down.
4-1 sharks tonight! |

That jones kid isnt a bad tender. At this point I dont think picking 4 spots later is worth much of anything. going to get the same type of player anyways. |

It's a 9-12 spot difference...
Our own pick is #14... the San Jose pick would be #18 if they lose tonight, and would be anywhere from #27-#30 if they move on. Personally I think that's a pretty big difference, but I guess it's not really a huge deal with the Bruins are drafting. They'll probably use the Shark's pick to take some dude expected to go in the 2nd round anyways. |

I haven't been keeping up with the changes to the draft, but shouldn't all 8 teams that went out in round 1 draft ahead of San Jose if they lose tonight, putting them at 23rd? |

Judging by how they pick, I bet you they will get a player at #18, that they could have selected in the 26-30 range or in the mid 2nd round. The talent difference is not that large between 18-30 in my opinion. There are a few ones I have looked at, but no one I will cry about missing out on.
In last years draft it might have made a slightly bigger difference. This year the talent pool drops significantly outside the top 15, and takes a nose dive outside of the 2nd round. |

That's a good point, but yeah, I'm in the same boat as to not being up on the draft rules. Ty's usually on point with his poop though, and that's what was written in the article, so that's what I'm sticking with! Plus 18th sounds better than 23rd haha. |

Ya I'm assuming he's correct as well. I seem to remember hearing something about the first 2 rounds being lumped together. |

Just by looking at last years seedings/standings, it looks like this is correct. |

SC cup winner picks 30th.
Division winners who don't win the cup pick 26 or 27-29 based upon points. Was picking 29, Dallas picking 28, Fla 27 and Anh 26.
Wild pick 15th
Wings pick 16th
Flyers or NSH pick 17th
Flyers/Nsh or SJ pick 18th
SJ/Isles or TB pick 19th
TB or NYR pick 20th
NYR or Kings pick 21
Kings or Chi pick 22
Chi or Pit pick 23
Pit or Stl pick 24 and 25
I think....... |

Can't be quite right, assuming Ty is correct, because apparently a San Jose win has them picking no lower than 27th

Could be but that isn't how I interpreted this :
1. The teams that did not qualify for the playoffs the previous season (picks 1–14)
2. The teams that made the playoffs in the previous season but did not win either their division in the regular season or the Stanley Cup (picks 15–25 or 26)
3. The teams that won their divisions in the previous season but did not win the Stanley Cup (picks 26 or 27–29)
4. The team that won the Stanley Cup in the previous season (pick 30)

I think SJ can pick 18,19,20 or 30 only. |

I think that wiki page is outdated... I saw that too, but looking at last year's draft order, it didn't match up with the method the wiki page shows. I'm guessing that is an older model for draft seeding.

I see, I thought maybe it had changed again with the new draft rules. |

I like both Nashville and San Jose and would like one of them to win the Cup.
But, I prefer the Sharks because of Jumbo Joe AND the A++ beards they are sporting! |
