Tyson Jost could end up being one of the better players past the top three?

Could you see Canucks making a trade of their first and second round pick for the Ducks first and Lindholm? Would both teams do it?

Sorry to interject, but they'd sooner move Fowler. Lindholm is too important to their team as of now playing the tough minutes that he is at his age. If they were to move him, they'd be wanting at least a top line scoring threat in return (JVR+, Hall, others that I can't think of offhand).

I just read a comparison between Sergachev and Mattias Ohlund, wouldn't be such a bad pick!

Disappointing result - I think many of us were hoping (and even expecting) a different outcome. Alas, it made things that much worse seeing the Leafs win the sweepstakes.

According to Burke, the 4-6 picks are the second tier/level of players after the initial top 3 are taken. So we are again somewhat on the bubble as to what player to choose at the five spot. Hopefully Benning can work a little magic and we are able to parlay the pick into a top 6 forward (just can't see a d-man being drafted before the sixth/seventh spot - of course stranger things have happened)

It would be really nice if there was a clear cut #1 Defence man in this draft.

The saving grace here is I don't think we should trust how Burke evaluates things. You'll be fine

Wondering if the Oilers will pick a dman and we end up with Tkachuk or will they trade their pick for a later one and go after a dman?

A top 3 pick would have been nice but I think we will still end up with a pretty good player, just one that might need a little more developing.

I'm not a Ducks fan. Go ask them that. I'm just passing on the answer given to me when I inquired to Ducks fans about acquiring Lindholm.

Take Dubios at 5. Big body, highly skilled. He won't be a McDavid or Matthews but he is versatile, (C/LW) and if the team can surround him with other good players Boeser, Virtanen ect he doesn't have to do everything by himself. You have Hank for a couple more years and Sutter, Horvat and McCann to shelter him for a while and let him develop. Benning also has the cap space to make a signing or 2 on July 1st. Take the best d man available at 33.

Dubois is more of a Chiarelli type player than Tkachuck because of his ability to play C and his bigger body. If we don't pick him, I imagine them trading down to the Habs so they can pick him and then we can pick from the remaining Dmen.

The problem for the Ducks is they have 21mil in cap space and 14 players under contact . They need to sign nine players including a goalie and some high level RFAs. Taking back 6 mil for Hall or 4.25 for JVR doesn't make sense. They could use that money to sign Lindholm. They need entry level contracts of very good players or draft picks.

That's fair, but hence why they'd rather move a guy like Fowler (even at his very palatable cap hit). Move out $4mil to put into Lindholm's contract and still acquire some talented ELCs.

It would have to be a large package, if Oil want to absorb Subban's cap hit while still keeping space open for inevitable extensions.
