I'm curious as to what YOUR honest proposal would be for Shatty. Every Tampa & Blues fan had their own ideas, but I'm always interested in hearing the opinion of those who take a more objective approach.

I would put shatty value near what yandle brought back with the salary retention. Low 4 is a very good cap hit for shatty nearly as good as yandle at low 2's. Straight up for Drouin would seem close to fair. Fwiw yandle at low 2's fetched duclair a first and 2nd.

To the guy who's asking about a trade proposal for Shatty, I would do Drouin and a second (or third). I'm think that's pretty fair in terms of value but I might be wrong.

Not nay saying but my guess is the blues would say no, they take on a guy who hasnt actually done anything at the NHL and lose their 2nd best defender (#1 while Alex P is out)

if the pick a 1st probably, if Shattenkirk wasnt signed to a very solid deal then id say a 3rd round pick or something fine,

this is just My Opinion so dont jump down my throat,

the wings want him too but my guess they want Pulk and a 1st

Shsttenkirk is a legitimate top pairing defender just getting into his prime years. And one of the better offensive dmen in the game.
The only thing that marginally brings his value down is that he's only got a year left on what's a very good deal. ( but I'd assume there would be some discussion on term/willingness to resign with his camp before a deal was finalized anyway)

Drouin has accomplished absolutely nothing thus far. Certainly got value and could probably fetch another young high potential player on his Elc and/or someone who hadn't reached that next level yet.
No doubt he's got great potential, but there is no scenario where drouin is worth shsttenkirk straight up. Or even just a middling throw in pick as well.
It's Hardly even all that close imo

Some sort of pick or prospect would need to be sent as well, but in turn we would need some sort of deal in place for resigning Shattenkirk.

As a Lightning fan, one who just got hammered with a price increase next year, I am torn by this. On one hand I like Yzerman has came out and said Stammer is staying but on the other hand I don't want to lose Stamkos for nothing. This is only good if we resign him or if they do a sign and trade move. If Stamkos stays until the end of the season and then leaves it is going to be tough. The organization though is under the impression it is fine if he leaves for nothing.

Stevie is gonna look real stupid when Stamkos walks this summer. This will probably end up costing him his job.

Tough situation for Yzerman for sure but if TB didn't give him the NMC someone would have so they really had no choice in the matter, now it may come back to bite them in the a$$

It's lips service to the masses. He can't move Stamkos without stammers say so. That way "if" he's moved it looks bad for Stamkos.

Ticket prices are still better value than a lot of other NHL teams but not sure how much they have gone up the past 3 years? Would love to have season tickets but 10 packs fit my situation better.

As I have posted often, I believe Yzerman is going to have offer the Kopitar contract or close to get a deal. Given that GMs can trade even awful contracts, there should be less concern as long as there is a trade window in the contract and list of teams. A bad trade would be less harmful than Stamkos walking. I do not believe that Stamkos is going to get $12M in UFA but might get offered $11M due to the shorter term. I expect Yzerman is concerned about signing all his free agents, Vinik's instructions, Stamkos' leg and his reduced production but resigning Stamkos would help the mood of the franchise.

I sure hope the Lightning make the playoffs and have another long run.

Anything above $10m and I say goodbye. We may as well burn Amalie Arena down and move to Hamilton. Even at that rate, Filppula and Carle will have to go.

Yzerman will not lose his job. You can bet Vinik and Yzerman talk about the contract status and strategy regularly. Would be a poor GM move if Stamkos walks for nothing.

That's the thing, you say "better value" and so do the account reps but Tampa also has one of the lowest cost of living of the NHL cities. My tickets, in the past I think 5 years, have gone up over 40%. Two seasons ago I got a 18% increase, this season I got 0% and next season I got 10%, they are flying up.

It's a business, mr. Vinik is putting moucho money in. Part of being a "world class" franchise is not being little Oliver Twist, walking up to the NHL and saying "please sir, I want some more (money)". You wanna stay, you gotta pay. Just imagine what Bucs fans feel like! Other the Jaboo, Douggernaught and Jacks that team is garbage, but look at the increase there fans got after a 6-10 season.

That is a big price increase but the arena is usually full and jumping.

I guess they needed to increase prices to the middle of the NHL pack if you are going to spend to the cap and play in the playoffs.

I would attend more games but I find the drive back to Bradenton a drag.

I seriously don't understand how the Bolts can afford to keep Stamkos. First off, is he really gonna take 1.5 mil less than Kane, Toews and Kopitar? He's a premier star in this league, its a HUGE discount if he takes anything less than 10 mil. Second, I'm looking at cap central, and even with Ohlund and Coburn coming off the books, giving them just enough to afford Stammer at 8.5 per, that gives them zero space left. Yet, they have Kucherov, Killorn, Paquette, JT, Namestikov, Marchessault, and Nesterov they need to resign... 7 RFA's needing new contracts/raises. If they think they can keep Stammer without losing at least 3 of those guys... Idk, the math just doesn't add up to me.

Not aware of any talks with the RFAs? I would have thought Tampa would like to lock up Kucherov for the long term and bridge Johnson.

If Yzerman waits until summer to sign Stamkos and RFAs, there is a risk of an offer sheet for Kucherov.

I sure hope this roster wins now since its future is uncertain.

I cannot believe people rank Stamkos along with Kane, Toews or even Kopitar. Does he even deserve money over 8.7 mln Phil Crossby or 9+ mln Ovie is getting? Not even close, he is a second tier star and should be ranked somewhere between Tavares and Tarasenko. I thought Tampa was more than generous with their 8.5 mln offer and might shoot itself in the foot even with that. Let him go and keep Hedman and triplets and you have a core of a very good team for years to come.

The reason I keep paying the huge increases is because of Vinik, to support the organization but to say he is putting mucho money in is right but also a bit not correct. He is getting a lot of the money back through the tourism tax that Hillsborough County collects. He fronts the money and then asks, and gets, large chunks of it back. My issue is cap going up 2-3% but prices going up 10%. The Bucs had no price increase for 8 seasons so they are just catching up. I have no problem if I was told, hey it's a business and he wants to make as much money with it as he can, don't try to sell me on "value" and all kinds of stuff like that, especially if the face of the franchise leaves.

As far as Stamkos goes, tricky for Yzerman but I don't think Yzerman loses his job if Stamkos leaves. If Stamkos leaves it will be because he wants to, nothing Yzerman did or could do about it in my opinion. Vinik is a great owner, Tampa is a great place to play and no state tax is a great deal. Stamkos will do fine financially no matter where he goes, he may make $500k more here or there but that is not going to be the issue, it's going to be does Stamkos want to finish his career in Tampa or does he want to go somewhere else. I just don't want to lose a young Stamkos for nothing, that's my only concern.
