In general I agree they might as well just toss the loser point and just use regulation wins for the tiebreak.

A single point made sense when you had ties. Nobody won, but give them both a point for playing evenly. But the league decided it didn't want no ties so that's that. Might as well get rid of the single point as well at that stage.

Just simplify it. May not make a big difference in the standings, but can't hurt to make that kind of move.

There is no fool proof way. Nobody will agree with tossing the loser point.

The only way to do it would be 2 points for a win in regulation, overtime or shootout. If there is a loser point, teams will forever play to atleast collect a point.

All the teams crying about the shootout need to...get better.

Is it fair for the goalies, not really...but that's life.

Twice if it was really JBs mom, I'd make him watch me go all three holes in every order possible.

3 on 3 overtime is just as much of a gimmick as the shootout. The whole point of the tie is that you can't play 5 on 5 hockey until somebody wins during the regular season because that's just too physically demanding. A 3 on 3 overtime is stupid as it takes away real hockey situations and rewards a specific type of player, just like 4 on 4 does.

There's nothing wrong with points and there's nothing wrong with ties. The problem is when unsual hockey circumstances (4 on 4, 3 on 3, and shootouts) determine who gets two points and who doesn't.

5 on 5 OT for 20 minutes with a long change and a tie at the end.

2 points for any win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for any loss.

Kill the gimmicks, get back to basics.
