Dysfunction doesn't generally solve itself. Nor is there much reason to keep pointing out the obvious.

But if you think what this team has achieved, or is on the verge of achieving redeems this front office, I have a bridge I want to sell you.

This team is still, in many ways, Dale Tallon and even Mike Smith's team, and a result of years of horrible performances and high draft positions: Kane, Toews, Bickell, Bolland, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Crawford are all attributable to previous regimes, trades they made and/or high draft positions. And Tallon had a better goalie here before this front office lost him to a conference rival.

As for blogs about this front office, I think you'd be surprised how much I hold back, because I don't have enough information to responsibly set forth what I'm hearing or an opinion on it. Right now, I am hearing some vastly different things about Toews' injury status and the drama surrounding Hossa. Not enough of one thing from enough separate sources to put something out there.

What's up JJ ?

True enough that there are still other regimes players on this team but if the Hawks win the Cup again this year it will be full marks to Stan and Q . There was a lot of media and fan desire to make "Stan" do something , get another Center , trade Leddy or Vik for something , trade Hammer for something..... Weather Stan was scared or smart this team is 2 wins away from another Cup a lot in part to moves that were not made and in part to the additions of Oduya and Zeus.

I think the new reality in Salary Cap NHL is that every single team has weaknesses. There are no perfect teams so teams better be really really good at whatever they are good at.

I'm going to enjoy the hell out of tonight's game......

Moreso Quenneville than Bowman. Bowman inherited a great team (and a cap mess).

This team, while good, is not as good as the team he inherited, but the cap mess is certainly better. And he gets some credit for that.

and now I'm torn. Cup or Hossa. Think this is a completely different team without Hossa.

Of course the cup is the most important, but losing Hossa after winning the cup will feel like 2010 all over again.

Jubilation for a day or 2, then depression...................................

Agreed.

I think if the Hawks determine that Leddy can't be signed that he'll be traded. This will be a sign of Stan's growth as a GM where he lost Niemi to an arbitration Stan will determine the return for Leddy. We'll see.

But Hossa is damaged goods.

Don't be surprised that when the Hawks win the 2013 Stanley Cup , Hossa may retire.

Mornin' JJ great read as always...

hope Hossa is around for a while yet...and they don't buy him out. Just a tremendous player in all facets of the game. But certainly 4 cup finals in the last 6 years and the horrendous hit by that tool Torres have taken their toll.

Any thoughts on Briere?

Can't wait for puck drop this evening. This is a must win. I think the Hawks come out charged up especially with the home crowd, but they need to get one early to keep the crowd into it. Hit Chara early and often. Hopefully Leddy plays more than 3 shifts tonight. Hate to see Nick moved, but it sounds like Sheehy is driving that discussion.

Also would love to see them hang onto Rosy and move Oduya. Any word on that?

That's really heard to say unless you are his doctor or the Hawks' doctors.

I can foresee a scenario where the Hawks buy him out, another team signs him and he is quite productive for multiple seasons—maybe coming back to burn the Hawks themselves.

Guy doesn't look done to me. Other Hawks have been as or more injured over the last few years.

I don't think Oduya is going anywhere.

The Hawks, I'm told, have an eye on Briere. To me, that seems like a backup plan but I've also been told while Briere would like to stay in the East, he would like Chicago.

The worse than normal ice scares me. What the Hawks want to do dictates their defense pinch and hang in at the point. Pinching defensemen and bad ice are a dangerous combo.
If CC plays like he did Wednesday we are doomed. I have faith that he will be back tonight, but really because I have no other choice. I've always felt "Bad Corey" is like my worthless brother in law who goes through burn phones faster than he does a carton of cigarettes, doesn't live anywhere in particular, you never hear from him, he could be dead for all we know and then out of nowhere there's a knock at the front door.

Would love to see that 2nd line with Briere centering...

Quick question on CBOs I'm assuming once you buy your own guy out you can't bring him back at a lesser contract?

Would also like to see rosival back for another year

I know I've read it a 100 times, but when is the latest the hawks can buy him out?

Rozsival would be great, but I just don't know how much left this guy has in the tank...But I do see him as part of the reason the Hawks PP might break through in a big way tonight,I wouldn't mind seeing him and Seabs on the points,Biscuit to bomb away, while Rosie flicks in the wrist shots that have been causing a stir in front of the net...here is to the Hawks coming out with a strong effort, and sustaining that effort for all 60min...and obviously a nice W would be great!

He looks different.

Older plus injuries , if he pockets a 2nd cup he may look to retire.

I watched Hossa alot live in games 3 and 4. Warmups. Away from the play and also during time outs. I think it's his right ankle. He was constantly shaking out his skate. And the other thing he was doing was rocking side to side on it like he was trying to loosen it up. I guess we will know after the series. But that's my take.

Is briere healthy enough to take I chance on? I thought he has been injured the past couple of years. Plus he is small.....plays big, but he is 36...is playing big taking it's toll on him?

Pure speculation on my part but I don't think Bowman wants anything to do with Sheehy and he does not want to be left blowing in the winds of calculated offer sheets. I think Bowman takes the initiative and deals Leddy before Sheehy even gets a chance to talk with another team.

Groin, hip, ankle - how are those the "upper body injuries" that Q keeps referring to?

Certainly anything "wee knee" and below would be a lower body injury.

Now if we could only count on Bowman to get a fair return for Leddy.
