Definatly a good deal for the leafs, smart of BB to get this deal done before arb, not for the money so much but if kule turns out to be that 30 goal scorer with a great 2 way game. He won't have have a sour tast in his mouth and may sign with leafs as a UFA in two years.
I think the deal with leafs not being able to sign the big fish has nothing to do with the orginization. Its the players, big time players have become a big bunch of spoiled babies crying about money and wanting to be on the best team with the best players. What ever happened to the good ol game of hockey when players wanted to be a part of trdition and honor. A great player is someone that wants to change history be apart of somthing much bigger than going to a star studded team that has the best chance to win a cup, that happens in the twilight of your career when your contracts are coming to an end and you triied your buns off to compete and win the covented cup.
Put it this way if I was an nhler I'd love the opertunity to play for my home town team the meca of hockey. Players afraid of media and critics and leafs are not contenders I'm sick of the excuses. Its gonna take one great player to change the fate of the franchise then all the other players are gonna come running like the litte chickens they are to win in the greatest hockey town in the universe.

Ryan= 2nd Rounder 2013, Colborne, Ashton, Biggs, Holzer
for the both of them should just about do it. Thats about 3 1st Rounders practically in there(pick+prospects).

Rielly will make the team out of camp get a 9 game stint where he'll get 7 points playing on the bottom pairing with Franson but will still be sent down, we then go on an 73 game losing streak and miss the playoffs by just 4 points... oh sooo close
