now thats an interesting thought
you want weber.. then we need to work out a deal or we will just match it - Dozzer
Getting some significant assets back from Philly might save the Nashville GM some face...rather then to only get 4 middling 1st round picks over the next four years.

What makes you think Schenn would play with Weber?
Philly has done everything to keep Schenn out of the top 4.
Besides, that D pairing would be terrible compared to the other pairings they could have.
Schenn isn't the type of player Suter is. No even close. Completely different styles. - jbold
Schenn wouldn't play with him right off the bat, obviously... But in a few years... |

Except weber is offensive and Schenn defensive. In a few years that can be an amazing d pairing. - Feeling Glucky?
i thought weber was the stay at home guy and suter was the offensive one?

poile can't possibly be so naive that he thought both suter and weber would resign for a hometown discount.....he seems too good a manager to not have some sort of back-up plan.
coburn, couturier, vorachek would be decent package. |

I remember Schenn saying Weber was one of his idols.
(frank), if Ponger comes back, imagine that d-corps?
House of pain. - Feeling Glucky?
And imagine them needing to resign Giroux, and then sign guys like Hartnell,Read, Schenn, Couturier |

They overpaid him by about $500 000, but I guess it could have been worse.
Ok deal. |

I say, going forward, Nashville just offer sheets everyone on Philly's team. Simmonds, Schenn, Couts, Voracek. They'll all be coming up for renewals in the next few years. It'd be a funny war because Philly will eventually be tied down with Large deals, and Nashville could swoop in and steal players - ILoveLamp
cant offer sheet all those guys.. you need to have your own picks to do so |

I'll wait for your apology in one weeks time
- faceto27
Wont apologize for someone guessing. You have a 50/50 shot at being right.
You're talking like you've been in the room with management.
You don't know anything. |

Nashville looks primed for another rebuild after losing those 2. Offersheets are not advisable. - Feeling Glucky?
Yeah really, they were so close too. I kind of feel sorry for them, but if they sold now, they could have ridiculous amount of firsts. Get a first for Gaustad, Probably another 4 for Rinne but they would keep him. Might be able to get one for Mike Fisher still.
Or they could use the 4 firsts to replace Weber and Suter and try to remain competitive |

Schenn was only 15 or so when Weber started being amazing, big enough of a gap to model your game after a player I guess. |

yeah.. i think thats the delay.. i think he is looking over what the flyers have and trying to put together the best possible combination of players/picks/prospects from the flyers that holmgren would still choose weber over.
then he goes to holmgren and says : give me this package or i match |

I never liked that rule but I guess it is in place to limit the amount of offer sheets a team can make. I think it should be a pick equal or greater than your pick based on the standings of the last season. |

i kinda like it truthfully
keeps the richer teams from constantly stealing up and coming stars that might actually help a cap basement team become self sustaining, and maybe even a money maker |

Well that and they have a full week, why not use it and take time to determine where they stand as a team and what they want to do moving forward |

And in a few years, if both those players are paired, its going to be awesome when both players get caught out of position going for the big hit, and no player like Suter to cover up for them and make the good positional play. |

But it is not like a team could offer limitless offer sheets they would still be limited to an extent but say if Washington didn't have their first but had our first they couldn't offersheet "Weber"even though it would be more beneficial for us Nashville. |
