Ah yes. Nashville would agree not to match only if they can trade those 4 first rounders back for something significant from the flyers roster that they can use now.

Hockey, because of the speed, definitely has the more explosive contact. But the AFL is constant smashing. No whistles, breaks, faceoffs, line changes, pp's, etc... Much more hitting and contact overall and these guys are all huge.
Tough call ...debate worthy but they're both up there with stuff like Lacrosse, and Hurling. - The Law
fair enough. I guess you dont know for sure until you played each sport |

It's up to the owner and the banks. - The Law
Okay let me put it this way.
For the next 4 years, they would have to pay Weber and Rinne a total of $84 million
Their ticket sales would be approx. 104 million. That leaves them with 20 million total to ice the rest of the team over 4 years just to break even.
Now what do you think? |

But we're talking about 1 year here. Which is pretty shortsighted for any business owner. - Pecafan Fan
It's the same next year too, no?
Gonna be hilarious if weber sucks without Suter.
On the other hand, I just got a terrible image of Schenn reaching his potential beside Weber. |

Suter Webers name came up in discussions at the trade deadline.
At the draft, Poille was working on a Weber deal. Philly grew impatient and they sent him an offer sheet.
Learn what an offer sheet is. He didnt lose Weber. He's not a Flyer yet...
He'll most likely match it.

you just made fun of someone else for stating what would happen
fact is.. nobody knows at all.. there is no likely, there is no he wont or he will
we are all in the dark when it comes to nashville's intentions |

I could see them getting a package of draft picks and players.....if nashville doesnt sign him they are gonna need some players, coburn, vorachek,etc.... |

i think the way it works is Nashville could say we'll match the offer sheet unless you take back two firsts in a trade for someone like Vorachek, schenn, couterier etc - celata29
now thats an interesting thought
you want weber.. then we need to work out a deal or we will just match it |

I say, going forward, Nashville just offer sheets everyone on Philly's team. Simmonds, Schenn, Couts, Voracek. They'll all be coming up for renewals in the next few years. It'd be a funny war because Philly will eventually be tied down with Large deals, and Nashville could swoop in and steal players |

Except weber is offensive and Schenn defensive. In a few years that can be an amazing d pairing. |

What makes you think Schenn would play with Weber?
Philly has done everything to keep Schenn out of the top 4.
Besides, that D pairing would be terrible compared to the other pairings they could have.
Schenn isn't the type of player Suter is. No even close. Completely different styles. |

Nashville looks primed for another rebuild after losing those 2. Offersheets are not advisable. |

I think Corporations get loans to finance investments everyday. It's 110 milly spread out over 14 years so it's more about structuring a loan to absorb the difficulty they'd have in meeting those initial payments. The last 13 years they'd only have about 6 milly per year in $$ commitment.
It won't be their money that's handed over to Weber. It'll be the banks. The cost is the interest to finance the loan.
Financially they have a decision to make ...they can probably do it ...but does it make sense? There will be a boardroom full of businessmen making that call. |
