Poile is a good GM...these brutal contracts are a result of agents and players worrying what the next CBA will look like.

I still hope Preds match the offer

- Leafs24seven

Leafs have a better chance at signing Crosby as a free agent next year then the Preds matching the Flyers offer

Pitcher can't throw with a blister on their hand

Basketball player can't throw or pass with a jammed finger

Football player can't run with turf toe

Bloody faced hockey player, can skate and shoot.

As much as we love our hockey players, that pic is not a accurate assement of a athletes determination

- faceto27

I tend to agree. I do think baseball players are wimps though, they spend 90% of the game sitting or standing around doing nothing anyway. Basketball is at least tiring because you are moving up and down the court for almost the whole game. Football is a very physical game but they only play once a week. I do feel hockey players are the toughest but that's just my opinion.

Personally I'd rather have Poile as GM than Burke. If Poile had a team with pockets as deep as the Leafs I think he could do a hell of a job. Burke has a team with deep pockets but doesn't even use it to his advantage (i.e. front loaded deals which may be a good thing once we see how this new CBA shakes down).

Just saying.

If that's true, then why is it every guy on TSN thinks the preds will match it?

Because TSN is a master of hyping up nothing to keep people watching to generate crazy amounts of ad revenue.

a little off topic but...........news from the mass shooting at the batman premier..

Some of the injured were children, the youngest being a 4-month-old baby who has been released from treatment. Victims were being treated for chemical exposure apparently related to the canisters.

Any way you cut this.......... Poile did a poor job of managing his assets.

He risked both Suter and Weber to free agency. When he didn't have either one signed by the trade deadline on extensions, it was THEN that he should have traded them and got some valuable assets in return.

No, Poile dropped the ball big time there. That franchise lost its two most valuable assets with nothing in return at the present.

i had an aussie roomate who used to always talk about how ruff the AFL is,, but after watching youtube clips i dont think it comes close to hockey. There are lots of blindside hits and blatant attempts to injure but when they fall they land on grass not ice. They aren't moving as fast, and they dont fight so.

trade your two best players in the middle of a 104-point season?

Of course they can, they just gotta suck it up.

And you have hockey players playing through all kinds of injuries. Didnt Crosby go an entire playoff run with a broken foot?

As opposed to losing them at the end of the season and get some future draft picks?

Football is a lot more tiring then you think. I use to have 3hr practices everyday unless there was a game. Its even worse when your playing defence and offence.

Maybe they are trying to see what kind of liquidity they have to see if they can even match the offer sheet.

Can they still negotiate a deal with Philly other then getting 4 late firsts? Sort of like the Gratton deal from years ago.
