The AAV isn't the issue. Nashville could most likely swing the $7.8 million. they have to determine if they want to disperse that much cash over the first 6 years and also take into account a potential work stoppage were they could lose the $13 million up front if there is no season,
- jstross

very good points, agreed

the front load will/can cripple them financially, they only 5-6 players signed after this season, (3 forwards, 2 D men).

This I not necessarily true. There are several options. They could change the ownership equity percentage by having one owner supply capital. Other owners would have to agree. Also, one owner could provide a loan to the business to get through the cash crunch. Both have some risk though to the owner fronting the cash. However it might be the prudent hedge to protect his investment, and he would either earn interest on the loan or a greater stake in the company.

As Bill as pointed out next year, guys like Hornquist, Klein, and Josi will need to be reupped along with Wilson this year. They still have a pretty strong young core they could spend resources to lock-up long-term. I believe if the Weber situation doesn't get resolved through the weekend, I'm pretty confident the Preds won't match and are trying to get the best trade offer possible.

I'd agree with that. If it goes through the weekend, there is talks going on about a deal.

If I'm Poile, I ask for Coburn, he's signed for 4 years & at least a physical player that Weber is in the D zone, asking for Couts or Schenn will not help him now so much

Will it will be embarrassing when Philly hosts the Draft party and Homer shows up late because he is without a first pick?

I have been saying all along they will match. I feel this will be over by Sunday or Monday morning at latest. Bobby Ryan will be a flyer by Wednesday.
