Your supposed to come in with a low ball offer. That's what going to Arbitration is all about. Arbitration is not a good thing. Egos can be damaged. That's why it should be avoided. And if Poile made the call to take the player to Arbitration in the first place, then that was foolish. But I don't know that.

This is where many miss the point. The Predators have the ability to sign Weber to a 100M deal. What is the issue for them, is the signing bonus money upfront. That's the likely hangup in not getting Weber signed. Weber wants that upfront money.

Weber doesn't want to play in Nashville anymore either.

what do you live in a box?
- JoeRussomanno

No, I'm just not a frequent comic reader. Also, I'm only recently working through the Animated Series. When it comes to big name movies, though, I like to go in cold.

my son you are deprived. I have more comics stashed in hiding places at my parents house due to my mom threatening to burn em whenever I got in trouble, than most people have seen at a comic convention... well not really but close.

Well he may have to. And I think he'll be fine with that. He'd rather play elsewhere.

Once in a blue moon I read a comic book, but it's pretty rare.

would the fans and/or front office want a captain that has stated he doesnt want to be there?

Yeah, I think he knew he could remain a Predator, and was comfortable with that. Otherwise, he wouldn't have inked the OS.

All he has to do is show up at a Nascar race and all will be forgiven.

Yeah, I'm having some trouble deciphering that one. Maybe Weber just doesn't give a damn about the potential fallout from those statements, should he remain in Nashville.

I will say this too, after watching Hardy pull off Bane so damn well, which I had doubts on, I want a Wolverine reboot with him in it!

Of the few I've read, I got to read an issue of Flashpoint, in which it supposed Thomas Wayne became Batman after Bruce took the bullet in the alleyway. Interesting story, would recommend.

Has he directly stated that he doesn't want to play in Nashville? Or has he just said he wants to play in Philly? Maybe that's semantics, but I think there is a distinction there. If he didn't want to play in Nashville, why sign an Offer Sheet where the possible outcome is that he is a Predator for 14 years?

were they shopping him or simply listening to offers?
- Crimsoninja

Well, it was widely reported that multiple teams (NY, DET, VAN, SJ, PHI) were in trade talks with Nashville.

While it may not mean Poile was desparate to move him, it seems to indicate that he was more than willing to trade Weber for the right deal. With upwards of 5 teams in the mix, that's tantamount to "shopping" him imo. Yahoo hockey blogger, "Puck Daddy" seemed to infer this as well:

"Is it worth retaining a player that, based on the Predators shopping him , may have indicated his time with the franchise is at an end; and could Nashville match the financial terms of the deal?"
