they absolutely don't have to. are they going to bankrupt the franchise just because they couldn't squeeze the exact package they wanted? either they can afford weber or not.
- OrangeBlack27

how do you know this will bankrupt the franchise though?

there was broad language, but not specific language, because they couldn't know what specific things people would dream up. The were able to define the Kovalchuk deal as circumvention under that umbrella.
- bodiva88

By doing that they also limited their definition by setting a standard. Hence this being an acceptable move.

Love that Gratton is more known for the trade that followed his signing in Philly as opposed to what he actually did while playing in Philly.
- Flyskippy

I remember running into someone who worked w/ his agent swearing up and down that "grats" would come around.

Which they won't be able to do here because it complies with the Kovalchuck "rule".

They're all schemers.
Bettman's a schemer.
Fehr's a schemer.

He's not thinking of you, though. He's focused on Poile's head.

All I believe is Homer is a creative GM that will always do what it takes to make the Flyers a better team. I also know its almost impossible to guess what he's going to do next.

i don't. i'm saying either they can afford him or they can't. if they can't, they won't take a fiscal bath just because the flyers won't give up a schenn or coots.

ultimately all this talk is for nothing....if a player wants to move on from a team, no matter how good he is they move him...Weber will be a flyer all this waiting from nashville is to try to increase the value of the players they get back...its hard to convince 6 people to eat up that contract for a player who doesn't want to be there. Remember Lindros everyone???What did the flyers get for him....Jack poop.

I wonder if he likes poker? He is the epitome of a gambling GM. Takes big risks, keep his hand close, and jumps when he feels he has someone beat.

Coots and Schenn both have the potential to be stars centering the second line. I wonder which player Homer is leaning towards?
