No way in hell would I include Brayden Schenn in the deal.
- MJL

I would really, really like to see Weber mentor Luke too if he were to wear the orange and black.

Homer did this OS because he doesn't want to trade his best young players. That's crystal clear to me.

we would have the cap space to do more and essentially will have replaced carle with weber at the cost of schenn and JVR. we let jagr and carle walk because they were overpaid. id rather have weber and doan/semin and we'd def would be better

certainly, I'd rather move read or jake and a dman.

And if you dont get Doan or Semin, then what?

Your losing more than what your getting.

Love that Gratton is more known for the trade that followed his signing in Philly as opposed to what he actually did while playing in Philly.

I'll leave the Weber sheet alone. I'm going to sit back and wait to see what happens.

One year and 12M I beleive.
- MJL

i guess i'm more focusing on the first couple of years, which is maybe where the nashville could try to say flyers are trying to circumvent

suter and parise have $2 mill salaries with $10 mill signing bonuses for the first two years and those contracts were approved

would you have before the whole offer sheet situation developed?
- Crimsoninja

For Weber, probably. But now I feel they don't have to. The situation has changed.

Arnott or someone of that nature.

I'd move Read/Jake + Meszy but NOT Schenn brothers.

It could. There was no "cap circumvention" clause in the CBA before the Kovalchuk contract happened. The league just made something up on the fly and rejected it. Nashville could hope the league does the same thing with the Flyers' use of the bonus money.

Or... does an offer sheet already have to pass through some kind of initial league approval before (or after) a player signs it? If it does, than the league has already said it's ok.

- eayost

There was language prohibiting circumvention, but circumvention was not tightly defined, so they could define it as they go along. This is not circumvention. And there's no language saying you can't outwit, outplay, and outlast.

they absolutely don't have to. are they going to bankrupt the franchise just because they couldn't squeeze the exact package they wanted? either they can afford weber or not.

Everything ties in. Letting Carle walk. Looking at the numbers, the buyout of Bartulis.

Remember when some were calling homer out for his terrible offseason? I guess he had a plan all along...

Is that the Kovalchuk rule or something that was in the CBA when first written? If it was already there, why was there a fiasco with Kovalchuk?
- eayost

there was broad language, but not specific language, because they couldn't know what specific things people would dream up. The were able to define the Kovalchuk deal as circumvention under that umbrella.

A big part of me (and I say my logical part) feels the longer this drags on the better it ends for the Flyers (as MJL said earlier). But at the same time I have this itching intuitive feeling that Nashville says F-the world and matchs.
