There's no better free agent pick up than the potential of 60 more games of Crosby next season.

Sutter is an excellent replacement for Staal, and they have some emerging young talent on defense with Morrow, Despres and others.

- bradleyc4

Sutter isnt half the player that Staal is... An the emerging young talent is still very raw and unproven at the NHL level for the course of a season..

I understand the Crosby sentiment though.. Him playing a full season makes the penguins much much better.

I'm disappointed referees can't dole out two minute minors
- BulliesPhan87

In effect, the 4 hours is a 2-minute minor. Considering that the "game" lasts a lot longer than 60 mins.

Nothing worse than a two minute minor when its a bad call during an important game....

My thoughts exactly...he couldn't have been trolling any less. He was having a legitimate conversation from a non-Flyers fans perspective. Some guys just think trolling is any fan of any team other than their own voicing an opinion.

- Juice

Or any fan of their own team disagreeing with them.

Does anyone else think that the longer it takes for the Preds to respond, means that they likely aren't going to match? I would suspect the Preds would need at least a few days, to talk things over. But if they don't announce by Monday, that they are matching. I think that bodes well for the Flyers.

Staal is more talented than Sutter, I agree. The difference being on how much more Jordan can do with an expanded role.

However, confined to the context of their roles in Pittsburgh, there won't be that much of a drop-off from to the other.

Anyone have a Weber jersey mock up?

I made one yesterday. But didn't share because I was fearful of the jinx.

I want to think that the longer this goes, the less chance they match, but I don't see why the Preds wouldn't use their whole seven days regardless, especially if OSing a player is as taboo as many suggest. Still, the language in their press statement has me feeling they ultimately won't match.

I'm not so sure. What do the Preds gain by matching before the deadline?

Probably, but do you think Homer entertains a "Gratton" scenario as Bill laid out or stands firm with his "money only" offer sheet? In essence I guess it comes down to which players and how many of them are you willing to part with to get some 1st rounders back.

Sutter is a nice young player. But Staal is a physical force in his own end, as well as being a strong forechecker and an underated offensive player. There is a substantial dropoff between the two players.

I think they drag this out simply to explore other trade options for the picks they receive and weigh that against whatever offer homer is making, if he is even making an offer.

Yesterday Morganti said that it might take a while for the Preds to respond because their ownership is multiple parties that are spread all over, giving the impression they must convene. What's wrong with the telephone?
