Bill if Voracek goes, what do we dofor wingers.. I mean we alreadylost JVR and Jags? To get Weber I guess you do it.. but we'll have to sign a forward IMO.
- Hextall271

Weber makes up for Jagrs point totals and maybe even cuts into some of JVRs 24 point season (lol). I dont see it as a necessity but I think they would be better off with another winger. If Jake or Read goes.

Sorry about the troll comment. That was not necessary. It was taken as more of an offense than intended. The rest of my post is still valid.
- FlyersFirst

No apology necessary, at least not to me anyway. I just didn't think it was trolling at all.
Sometimes without tone of voice things can be read the wrong way pretty fast.

We do this:

Or we can just go back and keep banning the guy for 3 months and the time just adds on top of each other.

I choose to look at facts instead of baseless accusations. There is a reason the team is subsidized by taxpayers to keep it from moving!

Hmmmm, I don't think so, maybe a little bit more.

Well, the trolling definitely goes up but those guys aren't around long due to the fact that they do not possess the ability to post without calling someone names or swearing like crazy.

So lets say it works out Weber for 4 firsts cause Homers the man:

the offseason for the division goes:

Flyers - got better
Rangers - stayed same?
Pens - got weaker?
Devils - certainly weaker
Islanders - meh

With full understanding that the offseason is far from over with guys like Semin/Doan/Nash/Ryan in the mix.......even still, if we land Weber and keep Schenns/Coots I love love love where we stand

If the Penguins get apprx 82 gms frm Crosby, there's no way they're weaker.

Nashville trying to say it's cap circumenvetion I think. They will fail with this appeal though.

Fully complies with Kovalchuck "rule".

Has nothing to do do with who signed him to the offer sheet. Like I said would be happy to see him out of the West, and being a King's fan there a lots of ties to the Flyers, so I do like them

Weber understands the risk of an offer sheet, if he really wanted out of Nashville he should have waited a year.. But now he risks being with the
team for 14 years.. No contract would allow a guy who chooses to sit our or 2..
and still get paid. Now in terms of Cap hit, it would apply, Tim Thomas as an example.

The league is probably not going to miss a winter classic with Detroit and Toronto this year. So the risk of no season is pretty low.

I am sure that Nashville is analyzing the financials right now (unlike you or I).
You have to look at ticket sales, marketing, and playoff probability with or without the guy.

You also have to look at if they let him go, what kind of success would Nashville have trying to bring in Free Agents..

The 4 first rounders, would fall anywhere from 14-30 on a given year assuming Philly makes the play-offs..

What about the salary cap after CBA, if these large contracts are somehow grandfathered in and the Cap hit drops, will that mean overall players salary's will drop? Thus reducing your overall costs, and margins increase?

It was rumored they offered a similar contract to Suter, that he ended up taking with the Wild wanting to play with Parise. So seems they are willing to pony up though this offer sheet does have a couple of poison pills in it.

Nashville will take most if not all of the 7 days, there is lots to consider and there is risk no matter what they decide.

- fsanford

Here is how I see it. The minimum spread between Ticket Sales and Player salaries (at the current cap floor) over the next six years is -130 million for the Preds. 156 million in ticket revenue but 286 in player salaries... That 130 million is gonna be super hard to come by.

Nashville is in trouble. There's no way they can match this offer. Its monsterous and theres nothing they can do. The Preds are going to have to match and destroy the club or rebuild with the talent they have plus picks.

idk.. they also lost Staal and Michaelk and replace them with Sutter and ?... Crosby playing a full season is also a huge question mark in and of itself.

There's no better free agent pick up than the potential of 60 more games of Crosby next season.

Sutter is an excellent replacement for Staal, and they have some emerging young talent on defense with Morrow, Despres and others.

I'm just surprised Crosby didn't get another conky from Malkin bull rushing him in the playoffs. Even if he did I doubt we'd find out. He got a long expensive deal for a guy that could be one hit away from the end of his career.
