How many years do we have to pray for the 1st overall pick only to fall flat on our faces? It's depressing and no fan should root against their own team.

MacArthur+2nd+ mid prospect for Bernier and Scuderi?

I heard a rumor of the Kings wanting to move him. Not entirely sure what his value is though. He looked pretty good in the playoffs.

- jbold

I think it's just people speculating because he is going into his contract year, and the Kings have some young D-men in the pipeline that could potentially step in. However it's not very likely, it's more likely that they will resign him, similar to what they did with Mitchell, perhaps a year more. Same with Greene, I bet they give Scuderi a two year contract, and then Greene a 3 year contract. Then they can have their young stay at home d-men slowly integrate into the system. Similar to what they did with the puck moving d-men (Doughty, Martinez, Voynov). Forbot is entering his Junior season in NCAA, so he'll probably replace Mitchell.

Etc etc.

But anything can happen really, who knows what GM's are thinking anymore.

We have a lot of good prospects, not elite ones (although i think Rielly is an elite one).. I'd like us to develop our own prospects for once in the history of the universe
- peddy-93

Maybe Kadri is Good if we stop using him on the 4th line or in the AHL

It would be nice but it involves a lot of luck. No GM plans on tanking it going into the season.

The more I see Rielly, the more excited I get. I really think that he could be the best Defenseman we've had in 20+ years when he gets developed...

He should be able to earn a spot on the top lines and use PP time to his advantage in a league like the AHL

I really hope roberts can work his magic with that kid this summer. He's got some elite skills but it doesn't matter when when a twelve year old girl can knock him off the puck. The stupid mistakes don't help either

I think that Frattin has the potnetial to play like Burrows. It's always nice to have guys who other people don't like to play against...
- lumlums

Where, in the AHL? Frattin is 25 years old, of course he's going to dominate in the AHL, other then that, he'll top out at a 40pt season in the NHL. Highly overrated by Leaf fans, Bernier has much more upside.

IF he gets developed properly, sending him back 1 more year to juniors, playing for team Canada and then playing on the Marlies next year and being recalled if injuries would be the best for him IMO, we have Gardiner, Liles, Franson as OFD, no need to rush the kid. But yes, I'm quite excited about this kid

No need to get worked up over Bernier, BBs not going after him

He's still looking at getting Lu for a bargain as FLA isn't really in the running, and won't pay up the ass when they already have Markstrom

And it doesn't always take a lottery pick (though this makes it easier to predict). There's a guy who was drafted late second round who just signed some kind of $110m deal, or so rumour has it...

What does age have to do with dominating in the AHL? it's not as if he's a man playing amongst boys. The avg age in the AHL is probably higher than the NHL...

It wouldn't, but it leaves a whole lot of potential in goal. Two young guys competing for the starting job, Reimer was brilliant before concussion, this year is the year to prove he can bounce back. Bernier was a very high regarded goalie that is looked at to be an above average starter. Struggled the past few seasons, but has also been stuck behind Quick.

3 scenarios can ultimately happen.

1) Bernier excels, and becomes a very good #1, as many expected him to. Reimer becomes a solid back up that can play 20-25 games (or more)
2) Reimer excels, and proves that the 40 games, plus the 5 at the begginning of last season was no fluke, and that he can be a true #1 goalie. Bernier remains the same goalie, a solid backup that once again, can play 20-25 games
3) Both struggle once again, and show that they both are likely destined to be career backups. This leads the Leafs to another lottery pick, likely around 5th once again.

now this is smart, i like your thinking. To be honest, we are not a cup contender... even though luongo seems like the type to make us a instant playoff contender... bernier could very easily be a really good goaltender if given the chance just as much as scrivens and reimer has as well. 3 goal tenders fighting for the job to be number one and if it pans out for bernier, we lucked out. But knowing our luck, it isnt so great.

Frattin+2nd Rounder 2013 for Bernier? That is a good deal in my books, i know frattin is a good player and what this team needs and is a solid guy but think about it... hes in the WEST, we face LA like what one time haha(sarcastic maybe 2) but really hes nothing special, his stats are nothing special, and you guys are complaining?.... you want someone to fill his void? we have ashton and brad ross in the making. We have players that can fill his void, you make it same like hes going to be a superstar or dominate the league rather than looking at bernier taking the gamble that he may very well be a starting goaltender
