because LA isn't going to swap Bernier for Reimer or Scrivens straight up.
They want Frattin and a 1st. Given that Bernier is not a guarnateed upgrade over what he have now, that offer gets a pretty easy (frank) That! - Big_Lightnin
Source? I heard Frattin and a 3rd. Including a first is too much, but if they'd take Frattin and a 3rd, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Absolutely it's a risk. That's why I used the term potential. Do you not agree that Bernier's potential ceiling is higher than Fratinos? - 1979AD
His NHL numbers on a very good defensive team are not that impressive regardless of his ceiling, which is given to him solely because of his high draft number.

Last I read was Frattin and a 2nd. The other guy heard it was Frattin and a 3rd. (frank)ing twitter.

Idk if you missed the memo, but anything after a top ten pick is anything but gauranteed. Look at Zach Hamill, the Bruins 8th overall pick a few years ago, that never panned out and we just shipped him off for Chris Borque. - celata29
Who's talking guarantees? I'm talking potential. Goalies are such late bloomers that when one is taken this high, they're taken because they have the potential to be a superstar.

What the (frank) do I care about what Armstrong got paid? He was (frank)ing useless too. I know you love Kulemin, that's fine. He's one of my faves too. But don't pretend he deserves a raise when he clearly does not. I give you credit for not using the (frank)ing depression excuse in 2 or 3 posts though. - weirdoh
I haven't even mentioned it
Point is his agent cares what Armstrong and Lombatrdi are making. That does factor into the negotiation, as does his 30G season.
The only reason he's not getting $3.5M is because he shat the bed last year. This is a very good deal for what Kulemin brings to the table, regardless of whether never scores 25+G again...

Potential is limited though, especially after you have seen him start in the NHL.
He has a 2.50 GAA on the KINGS and a .910 save %. Reimer in his healthy year had a 2.60 GAA and a .921 save % on a much weaker team. You really want to take that risk on a very unproven goalie?

You mean his numbers while playing a very small sample of games on a team that finished out of the playoffs and then 8th overall? Why were Kings fans expecting him to take over for Quick this year (until Quick turned into Superman)?

that said, The Leafs need to keep Frattin - he's the type of player they don't have enough off - plays big with a great shot. Still unproven, but he's got potential to be a Carlyle/Burke type player.
