Yeah I don't know much about this MacKinnon kid but it sounds like this would be the year do be the worst overall... I believe Edmonton will nail that spot down again though - SofaKingBored
Edmonton and Islanders will both see vast improvements this year. Once the kids realize it is now their team and they take the lead like they did all thru junior, they'll be amazing. Only thing holding them back now is themselves.

How doesn't luongo better the goaltending position ??? Just pull the trigger Burke - nategoalie
he'll end up in toronto and they make the playoffs and take out the bruins in the 1st round.
toronto loses to the caps in the 2nd round in 5 games (new cba)
they get to play again in the 3rd round (also in the new cba)
toronto loses in round 3 to the flyers
lu gets a street named after him and burke's bust is in a parade.
philly loses in the final to nashville with weber scoring on bryz in game 7 from center ice (weber's on the flyers. |

It wouldn't, but it leaves a whole lot of potential in goal. Two young guys competing for the starting job, Reimer was brilliant before concussion, this year is the year to prove he can bounce back. Bernier was a very high regarded goalie that is looked at to be an above average starter. Struggled the past few seasons, but has also been stuck behind Quick.
3 scenarios can ultimately happen.
1) Bernier excels, and becomes a very good #1, as many expected him to. Reimer becomes a solid back up that can play 20-25 games (or more)
2) Reimer excels, and proves that the 40 games, plus the 5 at the begginning of last season was no fluke, and that he can be a true #1 goalie. Bernier remains the same goalie, a solid backup that once again, can play 20-25 games
3) Both struggle once again, and show that they both are likely destined to be career backups. This leads the Leafs to another lottery pick, likely around 5th once again. - cor99

Did you read the post. I absolutely don't want Luongo around. He destroys the future. He takes up valuable cap space, costs us assets and wrecks our draft position. To me, that's 3 strikes and there is no upside to this! - PrinceLH
You mean like Kessel's done, ok he didn't wreck your draft position...that's still ok for you! |

I get the feeling he wouldn't be happy with the 30th overall pick... HE WANTS HIGH DRAFT PICKS!
Lu gives TO a good chance to make the playoffs... and thats what this team needs... and once you are in the playoffs anything is possible.
I would rather Lu go to Florida... he would be happier there... and I want Verteeg more than anyone out of those 2 teams. |

Indeed. Very suspicious that Andi Petrillo was reporting this rumor early. - El Capitano
Don't kid yourself.... The Canucks waited to see what they would offer for Bernier and then use that info as a bar to gauge just what they are willing to opay for a goalie.
In return, Burke would see what Gillis would do. But as neither did nothing.... this was a ruse. |

He can't pull the trigger till Gillis recognizes the value of his players.
Burke shouldn't give up more than Komi and a 2nd.
For Luongo, Kassian, and Kesler, that is. |
