Times have changed...ballplayers only made about 40 grand a year just before free agency started.

You da man, Al......... Right off the top of my head without any thought #1, how long until the Hawk failures are put at Rocky's front door by the "mainstream" media?

#2. Does Rocky have a comment on StanBow's comment that there was/is dysfunction amongst the Hawk coaching staff last year, and if so does he think that been sufficiently addressed?

#3. Does Rocky think there is a schism between the hockey people and non-hockey people in hockey related decisions?

#4. Under what previous NHL franchise has Rocky modeled his managerial model? Is there another franchise that has a president with no hockey background?

#5. Does Rocky hear the rumblings that free agents are avoiding the Hawks, and if so why? Does the admitted coaching "dysfunction" make players avoid the Hawks?

#6. Does Rocky think that nepotism in the front office is hurting the on ice product?

#7. Is getting bounced in the 1st round acceptable to Rocky, and when does that become not acceptable, and if it is what is to be done about it and when?

As soon as I have time to think this over I'll send you a couple more questions, Al. But I have a feeling each and every one will be for Rocky!!!!!!!

Evening everyone , been having nightmares....

Hawks do nothing ,

Cubs about to finally for the first time in my life start a rebuild , then Garza gets hurt and Dempster tanks his value by making the Dodgers his apparent choice, waiting for July 31 I fear I will have "Hawks disappointment" when the baseball trade deadline passes.

We've been thru the last 2 offseasons, 2 trade deadlines and 2 free agency periods with the Hawks and we've all been exposed to "Hawks disappointment" so much that I am now coining this phrase.

Whenever you are incredibly let down that disappointment equals "Hawks disappointment"

- mrpaulish

Paulish....

I'm a sox fan, but follow and watch the cubs all year, every year (I luv having 2 teams in town). I do not dislike the Cubs and find the x-town angst silly. As a matter of fact, the first pro game I ever attended was Cubs vs. Padres in '69.

My 2 cents on the Cubs TD situation....

Dempster's fine and he'll bring a nice return, although I'm not sure why he's being overly picky regarding LA or ATL, especially if ATL can bring a better return to the Cubs.

The Cubs are sitting pretty with Garza...they don't need to deal him now. As a matter of fact, I think they may do better waiting until the offseason, or even next years deadline. The concerns with waiting are the usual, bad injury or performance problems.

I actually think Maholm might bring a nice return if the Cubs choose to deal him.

After the Comiskey family sold the team to Veeck in 59 the Comiskey name wasn't used as much...

...by the time I started going to games as a boy in the early 70's Sox Park was the norm, although many still called the ballpark Comiskey.

I hate calling the new park "the Cell"...too damn corporate.

According to an article on ESPN, NHLPA may be close to throwing out a counter proposal.... Fehr threw out there that league discipline has been on the table this week in Toronto...sounds like a big topic for the players...

demp might have an "agreement " with theo & jed, "go to ??? , let us get a nice return & we'll re sign you to a "friendly" contract in the off season so you can finish it off for the next couple as a cub !
garza, i'm not so sure i trade him unless i could fleece the yankees or who ever for a top pitching prospectt or 2.he's young enough to build around.
back to demp, i think theo wants the dodgers top catching prospect in the deal so he can shop soto. he'll roll with clev ( the next koye no hit hill) untill he gets a top flight catcher. that is what i am hearing is what is holding up the dodgers right now.
switch it up boys, do you think the hawks have enough to start out the season with what they have and be a stronger team if they only add roberto luongo, which i have a feeling is gonna come out of no where now that the big kiss ass fest is over, yes/no?gillis may soon start to have to lower his price and stans ass may start to feel warm also!
i have often said with a guy like luongo in the cage last spring , that hawks team had enough to beat phoenix and probably go up against LA in the WCF,yes/no?

Demp is a jagbag. All this talk about helping out the team is complete BS. If he'd at least been honest about it, I'd respect him. I get the 10-5 rights. Now I hope he gets traded, the Cubs get something in return and he gets shelled in his new teams' starts. D!ckhead.

Would be nice if they could have pulled off that trade with the Braves, then send Garza to the Dodgers in that proposed deal. Cuz, lets face it, they ain't gonna be WS challengers for at least 3 more seasons after this. Might as well get someone solid for Garza now since they only have him under control through '13 IIRC.
