Morin Kane Hossa
Carcillo Bolland Shaw
Bickell Mayers Bollig
Keith Seabrook
Oduya Hammer
Leddy Brookbank
Monty - southernhawk
ugh
I actually like Leddy in the 3rd pairing , But I still think this line up gets pushed around. And the AHL goaltending the Hawks have isn't good. |

Glenn and Pierre - both wearing such skimpy equipment that you wonder how they could survive the puck hits. |

Early morning humor...
Q: Why did the Post Office recall their latest stamps?
A: They had pictures of the Bowman's and McDonough on them and people couldn't figure out which side to spit on. |

JJ&AL,
the trade the rangers made for nash obviously didn't include "their verson of kane or toews", so IF our guy was in on it what would have been a comparible fair offer?
sorry boys minus the NMC sharp is in play on this one if stan would have not sat on his hands and struck a deal before july 1st!
i'll take a 28 year old kid that is 6'5 240 and scores 40 a year and can play with a purpose over patrick sharp on this 1! nash would have been "thee perfect" wing for 19 & 88!
i wanted to give bowman the benefit of doubt ,but now is there really something out there that guys don't want to come here all of a sudden only 2 years removed from being the toast of the town?
on the other side of the coin on a hockey show last week, one fellow hockey exec. from another team, when asked about the plight here in chicago, took up for bowman and said that "every team the hawks talk to about a trade, they ask for the same guys, saad, shaw, mcneil, ect." so do we have some diamonds here that come nov, dec, we might be saying "glad we didn't trade that guy?" you guys tell me! |

"For the third time in four years, Rangers General Manager Glen Sather snagged a top off-season prize, after signing the free agents Marian Gaborik, in 2009, and Brad Richards, in 2011.
“This quality hockey player doesn’t come along very often,” Sather said of Nash during a conference call Monday. “This is a very important deal for our hockey club.”
NY Times
Another team/GM that goes after championships.
Well, I guess Stan went after one (with Hossa in 2009) - what have you done for us lately? |

Odds are against . . .
1) a majority of the Hawks top prospects panning out (let alone their prospects as a whole)
2) Shaw ever being that much better than what he was in 38 games last season
3) Saad living up to the hype this organization is already laying down over him
Let's all remember, Scott Howson is a hockey exec and Mike Milbury was one and so was Pierre Maguire. I strongly disagree with this exec you heard for one reason:
The Hawks best opportunity to win a Cup is RIGHT NOW, this year, next year, maybe the year after. Not five years from now when the world will know how good Brandon Saad and Mark McNeill are (or aren't).
I will pretty much guarantee you that—at best—Saad, McNeill, Danault, Clendening and possibly even Teravainen will not be as good as or better than Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith or Seabrook.
So why sacrifice a real shot right now for an uncertain and likely lesser future.
Afraid? Overwhelmed by the task at hand? Much easier to defer things based on "future promise" than make hard commitments today.
Bowman now has a reputation throughout the league for overvaluing his prospects. |

JJ, that nails it right on the head! i'll say 1 thing, i've already started to prepare to pare down on all the extra's we usually partake in during the season if this is the team he is going forward with!
already skipped the fan convention, couldn't stand to watch the fans clamour over ken yaremchuk lucic stalberg as some are making him out to be among other things plus annointing him the 1 st line LW. i bet no one during the Q& A made any of the hawk brass sweat under the collar and studder alittle!
not planning any road trip games ,no buying junk at the games, not even getting in on the advanced parking or restuarant club we usually do ! don't care about the long lines for dave mackey's autograph ect!
now if this team doesn't make the playoffs or gets bounced early again and rocky doesn't clean house from the top down next april, you will see a ton of people probably hit the road when it comes to season tix!
with the way thease guys jacked up these prices over 100 % in the last 3 years, coupled with 2 first round & out & now all the available stars out there to be had, none of them want to come here ? you guys tell me what should happen! i have repeatedly said on these boards i will not stick around a second time for lean years and front office chaos as i did in the past! not at these prices!
JJ & AL, what is rocky's take on this? did he talk at the convention? |
