At least we don´t have the worst Gm and that is a fact. One of the worst trades in a long time.. - MjulQvist
To put in perspective I'd say the skill of our GM could quite possibly be on par with our goaltending when applied proportionally to the rest of the league.

Now that Nash is gone, it's time to face the reality that Brookbank is going to be the only addition. The most talked about trade targets and UFA's are not coming here (Doan, Semin Lu and Ryan) - with how full retard the market has gone money wise this offseason, that may not be a bad thing long term.

I'm failing to see the logic here...what the (frank) has Howson ever done that has benefited his team? - EKolb13
Traded a draft pick for Umberger. (2008)
Signed Huselius and Commodore. (2008)
Traded Pascal Leclaire for Vermette. (2009)
Traded Klesla for Upshall. (2011)
Signed Wiz and Prospal. (2011)
Yeah, he got shafted in the trade for Jeff Carter. But you can't necessarily count Couturier as a part of the deal because at the time, he only traded the pick. And who's to say that Howson would've even drafted him.
But this Nash deal is being very undervalued in CBJ's perspective. Nash wanted out and has wanted out, at least he came away with something. Dubinsky and Anisimov will play in their top 6 for years to come. And Erixon fits in well to their 2nd D pairing. The saga finally ends.
EDIT: I don't quite understand how we can complain so much about NOT DOING ANYTHING when the other GMs around the league are at least making moves (popular or not, depending on how you look at it) |

I think Stan is waiting by his phone for the call from McDork to tell him the hawks have intrest in Doan. |

To those who constantly dismiss the intra-Conferance, intra Division trade factors you may want to think again.
Howson was in a corner and still past trading Nash to the West.
Word out is the Red Wings put together a bigger package of players but the Jackets wanted Nash in the East.

"Nash had six teams on his “approved” list to be dealt to. The Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks we're the other five " - Tribune.
Not that the Hawks could have gotten him, but again, why wasn't Chicago on that list? |

I'm one of those Al, and this does nothing to change my opinion. He shipped Carter to LA too. Maybe inter-division.
That's Howsen's problem if he didn't take the best offer. Not like CBJ will be competing with the Wings anytime soon. I suspect Detroit offered minor leaguers or senior citizens. Howsen got some youth and players that will be in the top 6 on CBJ. |

Isn't that dumb though Al ? So Howson could have made the Jackets better than they are now by dealing with Detroit but didn't to keep Nash out of the West ?? That seems very dumb to me , the Blue Jackets are so bad they should have taken the best available deal not worry about who their trade partner is. |
