Mr. Crankypants, please read what was actully posted. I said someone like Doan. A player like him. Big and physical and can do the dirty work. I don't think any top free agent is coming here including Doan. But if the Hawks can trade for 1 or 2 they will have to come here. At least for the duration of their contract. No, I don't have a specific player. Just the type of player(s) they need.
- PaulNewman

My apologies, I must of looked over the trade part. At this point, who knows what Bowman's looking at, if he is at all? I've got a feeling what this team has today will be the opening night roster. If there even is an opening night?

I agree 100%. Just saying what the Hawks need. Not what I really think they will do.

I'm still wondering why Saad wasn't there. Anybody else from the current team not here tonight besides Oduya?

If you're waiting for that "storm," it's going to be just like this years drought.

...and Hayes needs to gain 25 more lbs, right? You know, so he can skate faster with that added strength.

You must be real young and just read about MJ. He did not fail. I don't think MJ failed at anything until he decided to run a team. The players around him were not ready yet to get to the next level. To compare CC to MJ is a complete joke. CC got to the level he is at because the Hawks lost Anti. No if ands buts about it. If Anti stays a Hawk CC never is anything but a back up or AHL player. I know Ekolb will hate this but if the Hawks get LU(doubt it Ekolb so you can relax) CC will be either be a Hawks backup or a Canukle back up. Crawford had one good series and that was it! If the Hawks are going to win another cup they need a better Goalie then CC.

Buddy I am not real young, thanks for proving my point regarding MJ. The romantics want to believe like some politicians, that they were just coronated saviors and everything magical happens. Wikipedia the bulls and look at 86-90...it took 3 years to get to conference finals...failed there twice...before finally winning.

I am not saying that CC is great or bad, what I am pointing out is that like most people in a profession, they learn and get better. If indeed he is mentally weak...he will have a shorter career; however as is the case with half the goalies most fawn over, it takes some time...sometimes a long time.

The above mentioned analogy of Bulls and learning to win is also strongly discounted here because the Hawks won it all right away. That is an outlier. Winning and playing are two hugely different things in sports and competition. IMHO, many of the young core have to overcome their entitled self image and rediscover the hunger that it takes to win, achieve and be a champion once again.

Study the Islanders and Oilers from the 80s. Wayne Gretzky has a biography book I read long ago which talks about the growth both of those ultra talented teams had to go through before winning.

And regarding all the Niemi fawning. Solid goalie no doubt, but lets be real, he is not elite and is but a notch up higher than CC on the NHL food chain. The only series he played great in was against the Sharks that year. Not taking anything away from him. But lets keep things in perspective.

Getzlaf for Leddy, Saad, and a 2014 2nd? Too little? Are the ducks looking for cap room or proven players? I would part with Kruger/maybe Bolland for the right deal
- ikeane

Stalberg, Leddy, Pirii, McNeill for Getzlaf, (or take out McNeill) for Ryan. DONE. Hawks either get a bonafide 2C or a power forward to give Kane room at center. This is the move the Hawks should be looking at. A large, talented top 6 forward is a MUST over all else (though an upgrade in goal would be a close second).

Then you didn't watch very well. Did not read past your 1st paragraph. Not a real bright basketball fan. Sorry! Just saw the end of what ever the hell you wrote while posting this. No Anti is not elite!! But compared to CC is sure as heck is!! Crawford SUCKS!! plain and simple. I do not want to hear any more CC love. The Hawks unless they have God on D and multiple Gods as forwards will not win a cup with CC as goalie. BS on the WG book. Without the great one the Hawks may have taken them out several times in the 80's.

Voice of reason?

Perhaps to some extent, I'm just not ready to completely trash the organization. I'm not thrilled with what I've seen the last few years, but I'm not freaking out either. I'm just a fan who only controls my own wallet.

Explaining how it should be?

Alot of guys are pissed off about the club at this point, but I don't recall forcing my opinions on anyone...I simply offer them. I disagree with some of the things I read...like all of us.

My opinion more valuable than others?

Actually, I keep most of my opinions to myself. I'm just not ready to completely dump on the organization. I don't know enough about the game, and I centainly know close to nothing about being a bench coach. It just seems over the top to completely destroy Q when his career is examined. It may be time for Q to move on, that's not my decision.

I find it aggravating when fans complain about a coach who been involved in the NHL for 30 plus years.

- ArlingtonRob

Amen.

It seems like there's just a staggering level of negativity on these boards lately, and fine, if people want to feel that way, nobody is stopping you. But it seems like people who aren't quite ready to throw in the towel yet until the season starts are apologists?

I'm jealous that your team has an Owner, GM and Coach that are committed to winning.
