If Bickell does go crazy this season (contract year), sell high......

Sounds like good news with Hossa. Kane, on the other hand sounds like he's trying to feed excuses to the media.

What did you expect? Had to be awkward fielding the questions. His answers are really irrelevant, his actions going forward will tell the tale.

Yeah, but that doesn't make sense to me.

In order to get to the NHL, you need to be talented and hard working. The amount of each attribute (talent and work) varies among players and the superstars obviously have a surplus of both. Toews has a load of talent and he's the hardest working guy on the ice. Superstar. Shaw isn't going to ever going to dominate a skills competition but he brings it most shifts and he goes to the dirty areas and it pays off. 3rd line player.

My point is- Bickel doesn't have a lot of talent and you're saying he doesn't work at all. How did he get here?

- AceRatbang

Bickell has some talent. He had (or still has?) a good snap shot, and can hit and skate decently for a big man. The problem with Bickell is that he loses focus, and runs cold for very long stretches. He ends up not bringing it on most shifts.

When Bickell wants to play, he's an asset. He'll still be able to get a contract after this season, but I'll bet that it will be his last NHL contract, unless some coach can get his head on straight.

If the Hawks are out of it, sell him anyways. Some team will give something in return for him.

Bickell is another guy that might bring a nice return if included in a deal. We got him low...now sell high.

If you're "new to hockey" you sure have alot of suggestions for the career hockey professionals, including the cup winning head coach behind the bench.

Perhaps you should send Rocky your resume since you seem to think they may be replacing a coach soon.

- ArlingtonRob

You've spent a lot of time lately trying to be the voice of reason and explaining how it should be.
How come ur opinion is more valuable than others?
Maybe you should send in your resume for mcd's job?
The "cup winning" coach inherited a young and brash team. They were on a mission and he wasn't able to hinder them.
Since then, not so much. He and his staff haven't shown the ability to get the kids to grow and get to the next level. He screws with their heads and sits them and then overplays the few vets he has confidence in.
I'm willing to make a wager right now that the great q is one and done in the cup attainment category. As in it was a fluke that he was behind the bench when they won.

I agree! Listening to McD talk makes me want to puke! He I don't like one bit...and I think he takes too much credit for the Hawks revival. Winning is what draws the "casual" fan, of which we are not on this site, that is obvious!

Look at it this way. Everyone seems to love guys like Tallon, Chevy, Bergy, and Dudley...and most of those guys who are now gone, were around helping make decisions "by committee" it seems, on the players we drafted. If that's the case and all these hockey minds are so revered, then the future of the Hawks is bright.

Here's another "how I see it" - The Hawks are looking at 2C as a stop gap this season, and will put Kruger, Kane, and perhaps even Sharp there if he's not gonna whine about it. Next year, we'll probably see one of McNeill, Danault, or Teravainen as the 2C...Like it or not, that's probably the game plan...

Year after that, we'll see Stephen Johns wrecking bodies in front of the net...He's a kid I'm excited to see in the next couple of years...He and Clendenning will likely we your 3rd pairing not next year, but the year after that...

Chin up MrP...all is not lost! At least not yet...and believe me, if we do our disney on ice routine and don't bring it every night...I'll be the first one here complaining about it! I'm just of the belief that this team has the chance to be very, VERY strong...especially considering what other teams in the west have done (or not done)...Anyway, have a nice weekend!

I agree for the most part with you but my frustration is not getting someone to play on Kanes line to protect him, create space and retrive the puck in the corners

As someone said earlier if not Doan then a Doan type player

Hawks need the perfect storm where all the young players you mentioned earlier have breakout years

I'll go one step further. They need one to protect both Kane and Toews. The Hawks need both of them to be able to be free to do what they do best. Score and set up. They don't need to be mucking it up on the boards. That is for other players to do. If some how the Hawks can get someone like a Doan+ another the Hawks would be very dangerous.

McD and Bowman both no shows at the opening ceremony.

First smart move they made this summer.

If Beach took the wonderlic (sp?) test that NFL players do, how do you think he'd score? He doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer...more like a spoon actually!

Has Bowman actually extended an offer to Doan? Is Chicago even a destination on Doan's scouting tour? In the end, is Doan even going to leave Phoenix?

Voice of reason?

Perhaps to some extent, I'm just not ready to completely trash the organization. I'm not thrilled with what I've seen the last few years, but I'm not freaking out either. I'm just a fan who only controls my own wallet.

Explaining how it should be?

Alot of guys are pissed off about the club at this point, but I don't recall forcing my opinions on anyone...I simply offer them. I disagree with some of the things I read...like all of us.

My opinion more valuable than others?

Actually, I keep most of my opinions to myself. I'm just not ready to completely dump on the organization. I don't know enough about the game, and I centainly know close to nothing about being a bench coach. It just seems over the top to completely destroy Q when his career is examined. It may be time for Q to move on, that's not my decision.

I find it aggravating when fans complain about a coach who been involved in the NHL for 30 plus years.

Mr. Crankypants, please read what was actully posted. I said someone like Doan. A player like him. Big and physical and can do the dirty work. I don't think any top free agent is coming here including Doan. But if the Hawks can trade for 1 or 2 they will have to come here. At least for the duration of their contract. No, I don't have a specific player. Just the type of player(s) they need.
