Getzlaf and Perry are UFA at the end of next season.

They will pull a Suter and Parise hand holding act looking to sell themselves to one team.

Think Calgary, Vancouver, Dallas, Toronto or Detroit.

- RickJ

With the CBA expiring, they won't get big, long contracts like that.

Semin's +/- is pretty good, doesn't solve any holes Chicago has, fits the "splash" category, I hafta order my #28 Semin Hawks sweater now.....
- ikeane

Say no to Semin. That is all.

no net presence either end, Hawk forwards can't find either crease (offensive/defensive zone). Failure to backcheck is significant too
- ikeane

What's that?

I do agree. Brookbank may help here if he gets any minutes.

Scott was under utilized. They brought him in to replace Byfuglien, and he is no Byfuglien. Once he didn't produce they cut him out. I still like him because of his media battle with Bieksa.
- JRoenick97

Scott has never produced, at any time, anywhere? If Scott was brought in to "produce" there's a problem with the Hawks organization that's deeper than anyone could possibly comprehend.

Scott was to replace Byfuglien? Whahhh? When was this ever mentioned, by anyone? And if this were true?....please see my prior comment.

And I don't quite see how getting into a "media battle" with Kevin Bieksa wins you hockey games.

Getzlaf for Leddy, Saad, and a 2014 2nd? Too little? Are the ducks looking for cap room or proven players? I would part with Kruger/maybe Bolland for the right deal
- ikeane

I don't think we would move Bolland. Leddy could demand a lot of return, but EK thinks they want a second tier scoring forward. You know, the type of player Frolik should be. Really all we have there is Bolland or Stallberg.

There is no telling how contract length is going to be affected until the new CBA is done. That may take a long time to get done.

My favorite line from that one was "Scott was under utilized."

I never said we were tough, I said they would help over last year. Carcillo was/has the ability to play top 6 minutes. We need toughness help on D for sure, but I'm not sure how much Brookbank is going to play. We should have kept John Scott.

Wow, apparently everyone hates John Scott. Also, if you have a differing opinion than someone here, you're a "dumb (frank)ing newbie." Good to know. Keep classing it up.
- JRoenick97

Something that you have to realize as a newbie...very few topics go without comment. Prior to your arrival/participation, Many things have been discussed, many things have been beaten to death on this thread. The merits of John F'ing Scott as an NHL hockey player is one of those topics. It's been done. General consensus being...good guy, awful (God awful actually) hockey player.

John Scott was not under-utilized, he was way over-utilized. Every game he dressed was one more too many. He's not an NHL quality player. Never has been never will be. If he didn't have freakishly long reach, he wouldn't even be a good fighter. Can't be a deterrent because he's not good enough to skate a regular shift, so everyone just saves their cheap shots for the 27 minutes a game when he's on the bench. Just a worthless pylon taking up a roster spot and forcing Seabs and Keith to skate even more shifts.

It's not that your differing opinion was dumb, it's just wrong.

Why can't Stan be aggressive and try and offer sheet E. Kane? Then work out a trade so Winnipeg doesn't feel shafted? At least you put yourself in the driver seat by preventing anyone else from getting E. Kane.

The Hawks don't have the picks to hand out an offer sheet. Unless you advocate paying Evander Kane Weber type money.

Thanks for the explaination. I was more annoyed that I became a "dumb (frank)ing noob" for having said opinion. But. like I said, it's the internet and you can rip people with anonymity and not suffer any repercussions.
