Another day at the range an saw Anahem snagged another of the players I hoped Stan would sign. Winnik to ANA on 2 year deal per twitter alert text I received.
- ikeane

Oh the range. I think Ill hit one tomorrow if Walmart has some stuff in stock. The last few times they have been zippo on 9mm which is getting increasingly frustrating.

I haven't been holding my breath for anything to happen this summer. Getzlaf would be a great fit for the 2C. He's also a bigger guy who can throw the body around. I'm not sure what the Ducks would want for him. Probably something pretty prospect/pick heavy.
- JRoenick97

so would you suggest sadd?

As per JJ - a few days back

" I heard late last night that they are in "BIG" on Doan, confirming what I have begun to hear over the last few days. My guess is, not unlike their move on Zach Parise, they are throwing some serious dollars at the Phoenix veteran, probably in the range of an overpay to get his attention. "

I guess they never made an offer?

Getzlaf would probably cost an NHL ready scoring forward, a blue chip prospect and a 1st round pick.

Dunno, I heard they had a big money offer ready, but some of the dollar figures I have hears since from other teams go further . . .

Did we not make an offer or was it just another smoke screen?

I don't know. Bowman better have made an offer.

So now that we've established that mentioning John Scott gets you murdered, I'd like to move on.

I'd really like the Hawks to trade for Ryan Getzlaf. I've heard there are offers on the table for him. How completely bad is this idea, since my other ones are obvious garbage?

- JRoenick97

Getzlaf and Perry are UFA at the end of next season.

They will pull a Suter and Parise hand holding act looking to sell themselves to one team.

Think Calgary, Vancouver, Dallas, Toronto or Detroit.

My guess is once Ryan is dealt they look to lock Perry up long term.

Only thing Rick, they'll get no where near the term or the dollars. Bad timing.

It's not looking like anything but Doan waiting out the situation in Pheonix.

I keep telling you EK, the best shot they have at making any splash this summer is trading for "he who won't be named". I hate to say it, but, he offers the best chance at significant improvement to the team, next to changing the coaching staff.

Best range day in the fact that I don't buy the ammo, bad thing is as a Firearms Instructor in the Coast Guard I get to watch people shoot the dirt and ignore my tips to improve.

On top of complaining it's too, hot, too cold...raining, etc.

I think this team has enough bottom 6 grit. They need grit that can skate with the top 6. Someone not named Carcillo.
- EKolb13

Bottom 6 grit
Frolik, Shaw, Mayers, Hayes, Bollig, Bickell

Top 6 grit
Stalberg (huh?), Carcillo who probably belongs in the other group... but ok

Pure skill accross the board in your top 6.. gets you an early exit at the dance

Semin's +/- is pretty good, doesn't solve any holes Chicago has, fits the "splash" category, I hafta order my #28 Semin Hawks sweater now.....

Yup, and no net presence isn't going to help their PP either.

I believe he was trying to make that point too.
- EKolb13

Well you definitely understood my point ha. But, yes I was basically saying everyone is scared of taking a penalty. Stalberg, you took a penalty while playing LW1, back to the 4th line. Bickell, you took a roughing penalty, back to the press box. Hossa, Kane, Keith, or Toews take a hooking penalty, well that's ok, they're just being aggressive. What's killing this "team" is that the core is supposedly "great" and the non-core players need to be better. That's not a good team concept. I don't blame guys getting upset with the fact that they are not the core and thus much less important. I don't know if its a coaching thing or front office thing, but that is a major problem.

We've seen players bring it up . . . Ladd, Campbell, specifically.

I'd let Saad go for Getzlaf, but I'm sure they'd want more. A 1st rounder and another prospect at least.

no net presence either end, Hawk forwards can't find either crease (offensive/defensive zone). Failure to backcheck is significant too

Getzlaf for Leddy, Saad, and a 2014 2nd? Too little? Are the ducks looking for cap room or proven players? I would part with Kruger/maybe Bolland for the right deal

I'm reading that he's as good as gone to Detroit. Can you imagine him in Q's line-up …every time he takes a shift or two off? I can't see it myself. Hold off on that sweater for now.
