For the record,

I don't mind anyone disagreeing. Wowo, cmonalready, no problem

It's those who come on (apparently for the first time today) to shoot the messenger because they don't like the message that I will fire back at. So, be forewarned.

Also name callers.

- John Jaeckel

My apologies for being new to the site. At no point did I call you "a name". I just disagree with your doom and gloom assesments of the Hawks. I'll keep waving the pom poms and sipping the kool aid I guess.

Rocky needs to meet with McDouchebag, his little lackey Bunk and the Blowmans for those answers. Maybe he needs to meet with Coach Quack and find out why he retained Asst. Coach Kan't run a PP and why he hired Asst. coach Tampon.

In all, Rocky should send a clear message to all of them, and it should be "fix it or get the (frank) out!"

If Rocky doesn't clean house and soon, his name should be changed from "Wirtz" to "Worst."

It's my "creative writing" contribution for today. Given, I don't have an eye or talent for poetry like Beav, but I try to do my best, even if I fall way short.

It would be more entertaining if the folks at the convention showered Bowman with something else. Rotten tomatoes, cow pies, ect.

And you are welcome to do so. I will convert you yet. Just so you know, I have been taken to task many times in the past for being a pom pom waver/homer myself.

There is more to this story that may emerge as time passes. As I hear it form a couple of good sources, Bowman had opportunities to improve things and froze at the trigger. If you look at his track record, there appears to be a pattern there.

Sometimes, the best moves you make are the ones you don't, and so you can excuse him somewhat based on that.

The problem is, the overall record is one of shipping proven talent out in favor of futures. Great if you're the 2004 Hawks who stunk, really bad if you're the 2010-12 Hawks who should be serious Cup contenders. And fatty beef is right, Quenneville doesn't like being handed kids. They appear, at the very least, to be at cross purposes.

Really not good.

kings had a tremendous forecheck.........this is where a signing of doan would help tremendously. Absolutely no forecheck in the hawks top 6 right now. No jam whatsoever. Sure you hope carcillo can contribute there at times, but hes coming off a knee injury. Saad would be a pleasant suprise if he could fill that role, but cmon the guy hasn't done anything so far to amaze you in his short nhl stint. Like JJ, said he was just "there" Only if the hawks could land doan.........one can wish. If the hawks want to return to successful playoff hockey, they need guys in the top 6 that can put a body on someone.

Problem is we gave away two of the best in the business like it was no big deal. I think a lot of the problems we have right now would be minimized if we addressed this specific need. If you look at cup champs and what they had at this position... And how effective they were and compare it to the players we had in those spots.. Easy to see why we lose

I've forgotten more than you know about the Blue jackets, believe me. There is room here for Pom Pom Wavers.

Everything that could go wrong did?

REALLY?

In truth, while the Hawks had some injuries in the latter part of the season, until the ASG, they were the healthiest team in the league.

What else went wrong? Your boy "Crow" gave up two of the softest goals—in OT no less— is Stanlet Cup history. The power play was dreadful all season. The captain got knocked around like a rag doll and nobody did anything about it.

A good team that needs to fix a couple of things? Maybe.

What's been fixed? That's the point.

Keep waving the Pom Poms!

- John Jaeckel

They could get 110 points this season - yes, one hundred ten - and still won't win the treasured chalice cuz the physical makeup of this team just won't be able to win 16 games when they really count.

And don't you think rocky understands the whole free agent contract situation will be addressed in the CBA? Personally i hope the cap goes down a bit and those teams paying big bucks for above average players will rot with those contracts

Part 1..Yes Rocky is dialed in about as much as anyone.

Part 2 ...If the sky falls the Hawks as well are one of those teams to be hurt with the Hossa/Keith contracts.

There are too many cross currents...

If there was so much fear by owners the landscape was going to change so much...

Why would there be a bidding war for Suter/Parise??
Why would there be an offer sheet on Weber??

Also, as they have admitted to be..

Why would the Hawks be in on either player, especially Parise, who if my whispers were correct, were offering to pay a $14 million bonus???

The CBA is an issue but there are bigger concerns here. Once the CBA is in place, whether two months or two years from now... The same holes will probably still be present.

- Al

CBA is all about big market owners vs small market owners.

Only a handful of teams were in on the BFF's.

'Hawks won't be hurt on Hoss/DK contracts. Once the dust settled, there could be rollbacks or special condition buyouts/restructuring.

The cap will only be reset if anything is even done. They're not going to completely rebuild from the ground up. JMO.

JJ: Great blog as always. Thanks for being honest with us, even though your opinions may not always be appreciated.

I have to say that I'm really disappointed in Rocky. If he "realizes" there is a problem, he needs to move to fix it NOW. Another season of this team playing 30-40 minutes of a 60 minute game will make me puke.

I'll volunteer right now to throw Q and friends a going away party.

I have no special insight here. I do get the sense he and Seabrook REALLY just want to win. And that both are frustrated wit the hast two years. If it continues like this . . .
- John Jaeckel

So along those lines, have you heard that either/both of those guys climbed the ladder to voice their displeasure?

THIS....

When are we going to stop looking at regular season stats and accolades to gauge this team. Our top 5 scoring in the league was a useless stat. We had a team that was better suited for the tighter called regular season games. The Kings were the opposite.

- ilinkhawk

Not before they changed coaches and acquired Carter to add another legitimate scorer.

How interested/sober are Carter and Richards now that they have won? Also Doughty was in a funk that makes Keith's look mild. Which player shows up there? How much does Willie Mitchell realistically have left in the tank? Rob Scuderi is not getting younger.

After this year they will have some big holes to fill / a few EL contracts expiring and they will have to totally rebuild their defense and bottom six. They will have some money next year to splash around but how many long term contracts do they realistically want on the books with big money already committed to Doughty, Richards, Carter and Quick until the end of time with Brown probably getting a big pay day as well after his current deal expires?
