There were a lot of us that didn't think he'd sign an offer sheet.

Buffalo should have let Vanek go and started the rebuild at that time.
- RicoMartin

The Sabres would have sucked on their own so their picks would have been top ten, and the Oilers sucked and would only have improved marginally so their picks would have been high. 8 high 1st round picks they would have had in the last 4 years. Dynasty!! Darcy and most likely Larry Quinn dropped the (frank)ing ball big time.

If Nashville doesn't match, they'll be left with 3 or 4 defensemen. That's good for Buffalo.

If Weber leaves the Predators "D" consists of Hal Gill, Ryan Ellis, Kevin Klein and some kids you never heard of.

The NHL can step in at any time and say the deal isn't valid for "x" reason.

"Luke Schenn makes $3.6 million per season, but if Weber joins the Flyers, Schenn will be just the sixth-highest-paid defenceman on Philadelphia behind Weber, Kimmo Timonen, Chris Pronger, Braydon Coburn, and Andrej Meszaros. Throw Niklas Grossman into the fix and the Flyers have seven defencemen with a cap hit of $3.5 million or higher."

They are going to be wheeling and dealing if they get Weber.

Pronger will be on LTIR as soon as the season starts essentially wiping his contract off the cap anyway.

What does that have to do with it? Weber is also an RFA.

Yea. But it isnt like he isnt gonna get signed. He plays on theyre roster. He isnt gonna cost to much to keep right now.

Of course, but when you have 6 or 7 Dmen making more than 3.5 million a year, something has to give. They are going to be tight against the cap so they will have to make some moves.

I'm sure Holmgren will pull something off. He usually does. Whether or not it ends up helping the team is something different though. Don't forget they have a lot of young guys up front that make less than Carter and Richards did.

Is that legal?

Sorry if I am slow, I got into a debate about the virtues of Jonathan Blum's RFA status....

I just looked at the 2005 CBA. It says:
Once an Offer Sheet for a Restricted Free Agent has been received by the Prior Club, the Prior Club may not Trade or otherwise Assign its Right of First Refusal for such Restricted Free Agent.
