Then we all agree that Schneider has proven a capable goalie and he could be a top starter this year?
He's a very good goalie (outperformed Luongo this year) and he has a very good team in front of him. I don't see any reason he couldn't be one of the best other than the fact he hasn't done it yet.
Also, as a Canucks fan, I hope he gets limited to 60 starts maximum. In his 1st season as a starter, I'd like to see him get some rest during the season to ensure he can play at a high level during the playoffs. - micah555
It would be interesting to see Luongo/Schneider stats vs the league leaders. Who played more games vs. the leagues best and who performed better. I would assume Loungo played more games against better competition than Schneider did. I think Schneider will do a great job for Vancouver and be a legitimate #1 goalie, benefitting from a great team in front of him, like a Chris Osgood. |

Last season, it was actually the opposite. Schneider was placed into those pressure cooker type games (away to Boston, SJ , etc) I assume to get him ready for the playoffs, should his time come. It did, and he performed. He wasn't rolled out there in all the gimmie games, if those even exist anymore. |

So the two time Presidents Trophy winners are generally better than the team that has drafted 1st overall 3 years running.
Groundbreaking stuff.
I look forward to the blog about how ice is harder than pillows. |

Nick Schultz is solid no doubt. But Petry is awful. there are a few teams in the ahl where he would be no better then a #4 d man. Just cause the oilers are forced to put him out there due to lack of options, doesn't make him decent - Bieksa#3
This tells me clear as day that you didn't really watch him last year and just looked up a stats chart. |

Even if it's Ellis, just let him play. Huet would be a good option. Nittymaki isn't the worst. Someone brought back in trade for Lu...
We'll have to see about Lack. If he is ready to back up, having him get 25 starts would be fine with me. If the backup can do even close to .500, we should still be safely in the playoff. - micah555
I'm hoping for Ellis, my wife's family lives down the street from his. I shall drink from the cup before Hall, Eberle an the rest of the little rascals |

Hmm, I'm curious as to what you expected when you decided to read Ian's matchup series about the Canucks vs the rest of the NW. |

I expected a blog and read it. But what you seem to be saying is, if I think I know the answer, I shouldn't read it because his opinion is already known? ...not a bad point actually but I like to stay informed. Just pointing out that an Oilers/Vancouver comparison is fairly pointless for obvious reasons. |

Won't Ellis find it a little creepy that would want to drink from his athletic supporter? Not to mention how bad it would taste. |

it is assuming both don't work out though, hall, RNH, ebs and yak have 10-13 years before they are the Sedins age |

As mentioned, that's the opposite of what happened. Schneider got some tough games, he played in building where Lu has struggled and he played the 2nd half of back-to-backs.

He's definitely a better pedigree of goalie than Chris Osgood, but he'd be fortunate to have the career highlights that Osgood did. |

Sorry but as far as attempted burns go, it was the equivalent of a Dennis Wideman shootout attempt. |
