Regardless, that doesnt mean you should throw away the public school system, just means it needs some reform.

The problem with the school tax isn't so much the concept of paying for an educated society, but the ambiguity of what you are actually paying for. In theory, yes, you pay for the education of you city, town, neighborhood, or what have you, but when School Districts like Buffalo make national, sometimes international news, about teachers getting facials and other unnecessary forms of plastic surgery as part of their benefits package, it does cast some doubt as to whether the system actually works the way we're led to believe it does.
