That's the problem. When someone's good at something, others think they can be too or have to try. Otherwise, I don't think we see nearly as many goons as we do today.
- NickTheKid87

I think the goon was created to combat teams like the Flyers, because our skill guys could be just as tough. Goons became a mainstay because you needed your goon to protect your good players against the Flyers team. Then other teams needed to get a goon to cover the other team's goon, and it became an "Arms" race... get it? Since the instigation rule came in, and the red-line came out, the goon has become less and less crucile.

If you ever worked for a corporation you would know that a C.O.O. may have control of the company, but they do not get involved in the day to day operations. Homer has control of this teams roster moves. Snider has veto power. But like I said, I doubt every single hockey move goes through Snider.

watching the stanley cup teams play at the spectrum was truly awesome. I remember telling my buddy that we would never see another flyers team this good and we would never see another player like Bobby Clarke and of course Bernie. I think Eric Lindros and John LeClair and Bill Barber round out my top 5 favorite players of all time

3. Martin Brodeur, NJD, 2 years, $9 million

Bottom 3:
1. Ryan Suter, MIN, 13 years, $98 million
2. Dennis Wideman, CGY, 5 years, $26.25 million

It's still the Flyers fault whether directly or indirectly. Glad to see goons fading away though.

I think each era has their list of guys to love. Clarke, Barber, Parent... Propp, Kerr, Howe, Tocchet... Lindros, LeClair, Brindy, Desjardins.... Primeau, Gagne, Forsberg.... Richards, Boucher, Laperrier, Giroux... What have you. But I have heard the Bullies team is ready for another Flyers team to take them out of the spot light.... I'm not sure that would ever happen.

LeClair, Giroux, Lindros, Gagne, Recchi for my top 5. I did not have the fortune of getting to see Bobby Clarke and others play.

And considering that technically Luukko is President and COO, even less goes through Snider than used to when he was involved in the day-to-day running of the line of business.

I dont think Snider approves or denies all transactions. I think Snider may say do not move this guy, or go get this in the off-season. Other then that I think Homer has complete control. Just my opinion.

Does Snider own Comcast-Spectacor?
- JoeRussomanno

Snider is a major shareholder. He is Chairman. But Comcast owns controlling interest (63%) of Comcast-Spectacor.

Which would be Mr. Roberts, who is smart enough to allow the people he hires to run the businesses. And Snider also is (usually) smart enough to allow the people hired to do their jobs.

I bet there was a little nudge by Snider to get a goalie last year though. Maybe just a small, elbow, wink, nod - get me a damn goalie kind of message.
