Not in Philly. Has there ever been an expansion team that has done so well historically? I think other then Montreal, the Flyers have the best winning percentage in the whole league.
- RooNosHockey

The Flyers' all-time points percentage of .579 (as of the end of the 2011–12 season) is the second best in the NHL, behind only the Montreal Canadiens' .588 points percentage. Additionally, the Flyers have the most appearances in the league semi-finals (known as the conference finals since the 1981–82 season) out of all 24 expansion teams (16 appearances, winning 8), and they are tied with the St. Louis Blues for the most playoff appearances out of all expansion teams (36 out of 44 seasons)

Now, I know you wouldn't feel right about taking money from The Man without doing the job. I couldn't possibly put you in that position.

I'd like to see if my scruples would allow it, that's all, nothing more

Obviously too early to make that statement, but i can hope. I think Roo's competitive nature is enough to take his name to the rafters if his career continues down this path. Add his talent to that and I'm thinking it's only a matter of time.
- funmaster18

I think he'll do it, too. More than seeing a banner raised, I look forward to him earning it.

And 5 of those 8 non playoff seasons came when Ed Snider had only limited involvement with the organization. Jay was running the show in those dark days

I watched that last night too. Is there/has there ever been an owner that is more committed to his team and winning than Ed Snider?
- NickTheKid87

I wish I had seen that on the NHL network. To me, the Flyers really are a fantastic franchise. Almost always successful, great passionate fans, and owners that would do anything to win.

Definitely a lot of heartbreak, along the way, but I REALLY hope that we can see a cup for Snider in the not too distant future. I am certainly happy that he owns the team and cares so deeply...

Per Wikipedia, the Flyers have the 2nd highest points percentage (.579) in the NHL since they entered the league. They are second only to Montreal (.588). Pretty remarkable. Other odd facts:

- The Flyers were the first expansion team to win the Cup.
- The Flyers were the last cup winner comprised of a 100% Canadian roster (and most likely the final team ever with such a roster).

Didn't know that about the semis. very interesting. What blows me away is that they started off in 67 by being very competitive, even as an expansion franchise. 36 out of 44 years is fantastic if you ask me.

I think JAK521 beat you to the punch so to speak.

Great info though. It would be nice to have some cups in the last two decades, but the team has been awesome to watch. People complain about the Lindros trade but from an entertainment standpoint he was awesome to watch. I think he took power forward to a new level.

Giroux will start a new legacy, health permitting.

What is clear, for the most part, is that defense wins games. We all know it, but let's hope our team gets there.

Cheers!

I'm fearing the post-Snider era. Hopefully that is decades away.

Thanks man.

I still go on youtube now and again and watch the Hextall montage of clips to remind me why I became a fan and still love this team so much.

Those 5 years were the only consecutive years the Flyers have ever gone without making the playoffs too. At no other time in their history have they missed the playoffs two years in a row. Also, aside from those 5 years and 1971-72, they've made the playoffs at least two consecutive years.

You wouldn't be speaking of the montage with that song that uses Zeppelin's Kashmir as a beat, would you?

Seems some are taking this fun little exercise a bit too seriously. Obviously Quebec is screwed anyhow, because their goalie is in his mid 60's and Sweden's goalie has been dead for 27 years now.

Laughing hysterically upon reading this. But it fits right in with the poster's train of thought here.

Ontario is too good. I'd take them.

Big E, Pronger, Dailey, and Kerr. Plus Barber at LW.

Lethal size and skill combo.

Bill thoughts on moving Meszaros for Ryan Whitney

He has some ankle and knee issues but he is the type of dman the Flyers need.

They have a bunch of forwards the flyers could try and grab in a package. Myabe Ryan Jones or Omark

I took Team Ontario. The goalie is terrible but I just figured the opposing team would look out on the ice and see Kerr, Pronger & Lindros and just go home for fear on injury.
